Sarah Conoly Tucker
SOPHIA — Mrs. Sarah Conoly Tucker, 87, resident of Sophia, died Jan. 30, 2014 at her home.
Mrs. Tucker was born Aug. 28, 1926 in Hoke County, a daughter to the late John Edward and Mable Lillian Chason Conoly.  She was a member of Sandy Grove Methodist Church in Raeford and retired from Cape Fear Hospital in Wilmington.  She moved to this area on July 27, 2008.  Her husband, Carl Ray Tucker, preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1998.  She was also preceded by a son, Stacy Mitchell Davis.
Surviving are three children, Patricia Ann Hollingsworth of Sophia, Barbara Fay Horne and husband Gene of Wilmington and Larry Edward Davis of High Point; a sister, Alene Virginia Ketchel of Bowie, Md.; a brother, Jimmy Neil Conoly of Raeford; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at 1st Church of God with Rev. Hallie Scott officiating.  Visitation with a meal will immediately follow the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to 1st Church of God Building Fund, 7009 Weant Rd. Elmer Charles Proctor
HIGH POINT — Mr. Elmer Charles Proctor, 94, of Johnson Rd. went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at the Hospice Home at High Point. He was born on Oct. 24, 1919 in Davidson County to Tom and Bessie Proctor and had made his home in this area for his entire life. He was a retired farmer and home builder. He was a longtime member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lavata Babson and Virginia White, and brothers, Bobby Proctor, McKinley Proctor, Clyde Proctor, and R. V. Proctor. On Nov. 5, 1938 he married the former Thelma Davis who also preceded him in death on Sept. 24, 2006.
Surviving his daughters, Jewel Brock and husband Virgle, Joyce Cecil and husband Dan and Faye Garrett and husband Tommy all of Johnson Rd.; 10 grandchildren, Lisa Rogers and Chris, Lori Hughes and Jeff, Joy Marcantel and Danny, Tee Garrett and Krysti, Brooks Brock and Crystal, Trent Garrett and Shannon, Lucinda Lee and Ricky, Jill Cecil, Tara Cribb and Mike and Brannon Brock and Jamie; 14 great-grandchildren Megan Mayhew and Tyler Rogers, Nick and Nicole Hughes, Hunter and Morgan Brock, Cody and Chase Lee, Danielle and Charlie Marcantel, Corey Cecil, Garrett Rich, Raegan Brock, Heather Stamp; two great- great grandchildren, McKinleigh Mayhew, Josh Stamp, sisters, Loraine Saunders, Hazel Whitfield, Arlene Moore and Maxine Robbins (Eddie).
Funeral services for Mr. Proctor will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Westfall and Rev. Jeremy Pegram officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Proctor will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home “Wallburg Chapel” 10301 N. NC Hwy. 109 Winston-Salem until placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. and at other times at Mr. Proctor’s home.

Fred L. Lohr
LEXINGTON — Fred Lee Lohr, 80, of East Holly Grove Road, died Jan. 30, 2014 in Hinkle Hospice House.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Holly Grove Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service and the family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

LEXINGTON — Jay C. Kivett, age 91, of East US Highway 64 Lexington died peacefully Thursday night at Hinkle Hospice House surrounded by his family. A memorial service to celebrate his memory and honor his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Second Reformed United Church of Christ. Arrangements by Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

Christopher (Chris) Kenneth Shell
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Christopher (Chris) Kenneth Shell, 32 died on Jan. 29, 2014.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 31 from 6-8 p.m. and at other times at the home of the father, 126 Rickard Road in Thomasville.

LEXINGTON — Mary Pauline Council Gray, 95, of Hillside Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Lexington Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Psalm 91 Church. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the church and other times at the home.

Ruth Ellen Phillips Bingham
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Ruth Ellen Phillips Bingham, 75, of Boggs Road, Thomasville went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at Hinkle Hospice Home.  She was born on Aug. 14, 1938, in Transylvania County to Walter Phillips and Nina Mae Metcalf Phillips.  She was a homemaker.  She was a member of Blood Bought Baptist Church where she loved to sing for church services and magnify her Lord.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Dylan Buchanan; four sisters and five brothers.
Ruth married Rev. Gerald Bingham on March 6, 1954.  They were married for almost 60 years.  Rev. Bingham survives of the home.  Also surviving are two daughters, Sandra Southard and husband James of Trinity, and Annette Grant and husband Roger of Trinity; five sons, David Bingham and wife Lavonne of Thomasville, Eddie Bingham of Thomasville, Jimmy Bingham of Brevard, NC, Scott Bingham and wife Lisa of Thomasville, and Brad Bingham and wife Venessa of Lexington; one sister, Wanda Worley of Brevard, N.C.; 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Hughes Grove Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Brad Bingham and Rev. Roger Grant officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville, and other times at the home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC  27292.  Online condolences may be sent to the Bingham family at      

Charles Davis Oakes
HIGH POINT — Charles Davis Oakes, 84, of High Point, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014.
Charles was born Aug. 4, 1929 in Guilford County to H.U. and Mamie Oakes.  After serving in the U.S. Navy for three years, he worked for one year for IBM and also served as Vice President of Adams Millis, retiring in 1989.  During his time at Adams Millis, he also served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Sales Corporation.  Charles was also owner of Act One Restaurant from 1980 to 2004. He was a longtime member of Twilight Civitan Club and was a past president of Colonial Country Club. Charles was married for 63 years to his beloved wife Lois, who survives of the home, and they will be remembered as a precious couple. He was preceded in death by daughter, Sherry Griffin.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by son Charles Hulbert Oakes and wife Tracy of High Point; sister, Doris Yontz of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Ashley Hebert and husband Bryan of Archdale, Jeanne Enloe and husband Darrick of San Antonio, Texas, and Leigh Griffin of High Point; and great-grandchildren, Brooke Hebert, Macy Hebert, Ashlyn Enloe, and Kaitlyn Enloe.
A celebration of Charles’s life will be held on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

ARCHDALE — Joyce Morton McDaniel, , 37, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 as a result of an automobile accident.
A Celebration of Joyce’s Life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by Pastor Joe Dillon.  The family will receive friends following the service until 4 p.m.  Memorials may be directed to the family.
