LEXINGTON — Mary Cole Thompson, 79, of Lingle Farm Road, Lexington died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at Hinkle Hospice House after an extended illness.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at Reeds United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.

William A. (Tony) Leonard
THOMASVILLE — Mr. William A. (Tony) Leonard, a resident of Thomasville died Tuesday evening, Jan. 28, 2014 at the Thomasville Medical Center.  He was born May 10, 1948 in Thomasville a son of William Dolan Leonard and Iola Bryant Leonard.  Tony was a member of Rich Fork Baptist Church.
Surviving are his mother, Iola B. Leonard of the home; a brother, Randy Leonard of the home; a niece Brandy Doorman and husband Kevin of Florida and a nephew Casey Leonard of Florida.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at 1 p.m. in Rich Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Bowers officiating. Mr. Leonard will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until taken to the church thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 4-6 p.m. and immediately following the service.

Kevin Myles Lewis
THOMASVILLE — Kevin Myles Lewis, age 28, a resident of Stonehedge Rd., passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014. He was born June 10, 1985 in Davidson County, N.C., son of Kenneth Myles Lewis, Jr. and Tia Renee Sechrist Lewis. Mr. Lewis was employed with Big Al’s Tree Service and was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving are  his mother, Tia Renee Lewis of Thomasville; his father, Kenneth Myles Lewis, Jr. and his girlfriend Melissa Hicks of Salisbury; one daughter, Elana Cecile Lewis of Denton; one son, Cayden Myles Lewis of Denton; four sisters, Falicia  Jenkins and husband David of Salisbury, Amanda Perry and husband Justin of Lexington, Kansas Lewis and boyfriend Jacob of Salisbury and Destiny Wallen of Thomasville; one brother, Brandon Hicks and wife Ashley of Salisbury, N.C.; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Rosa Sechrist of Thomasville; paternal grandparents, Cecile Styron and the late Phillip Styron of Trinity and his favorite uncle, Alva Lewis and wife Brandi of Trinity.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at J. C. Celia Lopp Wilson
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Celia Lopp Wilson, age 84, a resident of 408 Crestview Dr. passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 in the Hinkle Hospice Home. She was born Oct. 22, 1929 in Davidson County a daughter of the late Cletus Lopp and Olive Yates Lopp. She attended school at Pilot School and was a graduate of Ashemore Business College. Mrs. Wilson was formerly employed with Kayby Mills and was a member of Fairmont Park Baptist Church in High Point. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Walter Cletus Wilson. She was married to Walter Wilson, Jr. who preceded her in death Jan. 20, 2007.
Surviving are, one daughter, Diane Clemons of Trinity, N.C.; one sister, Delinda Freeman and husband Roland of Fayetteville, N.C.; two brothers, Fred Lopp and wife Mary Ruth of Louisville, N.C. and Cletus Lopp of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Alicia Marie Sayers of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Chris Phillips of Archdale, N.C., Nick Lloyd of Trinity, N.C. and Brent Wilson of Winter Springs, Fla.; five great grandchildren, Kinsley Phillips, Keaton Phillips, Cailin Sayers, Skylar Sayers and Maximus Sayers.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at 3 p.m. in J. C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Wayne Richardson and Rev. Steve Jones officiating, The interment will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.

Kevin Easter
WHISETT — Kevin Wayne Easter peacefully passed away Jan. 19, 2014 in High Point, N.C. after a brief and courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family and friends.
Kevin Wayne Easter was born Dec. 20, 1975 to Doris Easter Adams and Andre Etheredge. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; two aunts; two uncles; one special aunt, Barbara Ann Easter; and one “loyal” cousin, Brian Keith Easter.
He was born and raised in High Point, N.C. attending Guilford County schools. He was a 1994 graduate of T. Wingate Andrews High School. As an accomplished athlete, he played football, basketball and was in the marching band. He attended North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University on an academic scholarship and studied Industrial Engineering.
Everyone who knew him knows he was a very dedicated worker. At an early age he worked at Winn-Dixie food chain stores and quickly excelled to store manager. He later managed a Champs Retail Sports store for the past five years earning several awards for his outstanding sales and achievements.
His favorite pastime was traveling to the beach on his motorcycle with his best friends, “The Mob.” He was an avid Star Wars fan and was the self-proclaimed “K-Jedi”…“May the force be with him always.” Above all things in his life, his greatest and dearest treasure was his family and friends. He was a loving and devoted son and a very protective brother and uncle.
Kevin was a tremendous giver of his time, heart, and soul. He was so humble and his gentle spirit allowed him to be a mentor to other young men. There will never be another Kevin Easter. He was a great man, loved by all, and will be remembered most for his deep sense of compassion, sharp fashion sense, his infectious smile and above all, his service to others.  Even during his battle, his biggest concern was for his mother and her pain. He will always live in our hearts and we will forever be proud to call him son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin and best friend. He fulfilled each of those titles like a champion.
Kevin leaves to cherish his memory a loving mother who never left his side, Doris Easter Adams of the home; his brother, Kenyon Darnell Easter; nephew, Kameran N. Adams; aunt, Mary Easter Johnson; uncles, Leroy (Judy) Easter and Ellwood Easter all of Westchester, NY; other special family members in his life Janie Franklin, George and Terrell Easter, Devon Franklin, Anita Barton, Tijuana Green; godmother, Nadine Milton, and a host of loving cousins and devoted friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at noon at Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until noon.

Beulah Horne
HIGH POINT – Beulah Mae Shaw Horne, 74, somberly departed her earthly body on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at Hospice Home at High Point. She was born on May 25, 1939 in Tarboro, N.C. to Clara Shaw and Joe Dickens who both preceded her in death. Also precededing her death are two sisters, Ella Shaw Sherrod and Louise Shaw Staton; three brothers, Jesse, Johnnie and Robert Shaw.
She was a former employee of Phillips-Foscue, now known as Vitafoam for 32 years when she retired July 31, 2001.
Left to cherish her memories are; one daughter, Velma Dianne Horne, three grandchildren, Kanetria Harris, Avery Horne and Keyonne Horne; one great-grandchild, Kaleb Hall all of High Point, N.C.; one sister, Maggie Shaw Foreman of Tarboro, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Hattie Shaw of Boston, Mass.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at 4 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel, 1810 Brockett Ave. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 3:30 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Sharon Tucker
TRINITY — Sharon L. Tucker 64, passed away on Wednesday Jan. 29, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Sharon was born in East Rainelle, W.Va., and was also an avid reader, loved to do flower arranging and crafts.
She is preceded in death by brother Ronald McClure.
Sharon is survived by her mother Dolores McClure of the home, daughter Sonia Tucker of Anchorage, Alaska, brothers; Stephen McClure and his wife Darlene of Millville,N.J., Johnnie McClure of Trinity, sisters; Vickie Dixon of Trinity, Teresa Williams and her husband Walter of Bridgeton N.J., Melinda Pfannerer and her husband Bert of Bridgeton, N.J., also many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday Feb. 1, 2014 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m Sunday Feb. 2, 2014 at Cumby Family Funeral Service Archdale chapel with Pastor Jonathan Lawson of Crossover Community Church in High Point officiating, followed by internment in Holly Hill Memorial Park.

Lester M. Owens
HIGH POINT — Lester M. Owens, 94, of High Point, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014.
Lester was born May 7, 1919 in Guilford County to Charlie and Bessie Owens. On Dec. 17, 1938, he married Stella Seawell, who precedes him in death. Lester joined the US Navy in 1944 and served until 1946 and then worked for forty years as a foreman for Highland Yarns.  He was also a member of Highland Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents and wife, Lester is preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Gibson.
Lester is survived by grandsons, Terry Bundy and wife Pam of Thomasville and Mark Bundy of High Point; brother, Robert Owens of High Point; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Chavis, Ashley Musick, and Candace Jennings; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Lester’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Keith Letterman officiating.  Interment will follow the service at Floral Garden Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, and other times at 201 Rosemary Drive, Archdale.

Kathy Hedrick
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Katherine Ann ‘Kathy’ Hedrick, 63, of Mock Road, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at High Point Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 23, 1950 in Lee County, N.C. to the late Daniel James and Lena Mae Hall.  Mrs. Hedrick was a homemaker, loved to cook and clean, but loved her family and  grandchildren most of all. She was loved and will be missed by the entire community.  Mrs. Hedrick was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Carolyn Hall and Edna Hall; and one brother, Daniel ‘Jr’ Hall.
She is survived by her husband, James ‘Tommy’ Hedrick of the home; daughter, Tammy May and husband Allen; two sons, Derek Hedrick and wife Amanda, and William Hedrick; one sister, Donna Hall and Ricky; one brother, Ronnie Hall and wife Libby; five grandchildren, Jessica, Chancellor, Allie, Willow, and Lilly; and best friend, Judy Cranford.
A cryptside service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Floral Garden Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. John Bishop officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Floral Garden Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, P.O. John R. McGinn
HIGH POINT — John R. McGinn, of Smith Mountain Lake, Va., and Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center following a brief illness. The son of John R. McGinn, Sr., and Juanita Tysinger McGinn, John attended High Point public schools and High Point College (University).
Predeceased by his parents and by his sister, Jennie McGinn Herndon, John is survived by his son Michael McGinn, of Morehead City, N.C., and by his brother Gilbert McPherson. John worked in the furniture-finishing industry throughout his professional career and retired from Reliance Universal/Akzo Nobel. Known for his love of bird dogs and hunting, John traveled from Argentina to Montana in search of good hunting adventures. He and his bird dogs also led hunting trips out of Carolina Quail Club in Clio, S.C. John was a loyal friend and will be remembered for his love of life.
A funeral is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Deep River Friends Meeting, 5300 West Wendover Avenue, High Point, with a Celebration of Life to follow the funeral. Family visitation will precede the service at 2 p.m. in the Meeting Room at Deep River. THOMASVILLE — Mr. Christopher (Chris) Kenneth Shell, 31 died on Jan. 29, 2014.

James Noah Smith
HIGH POINT — Mr. James Noah Smith, age 72 departed this earthly life on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Hospice Home at High Point. He was born in Maxton, N.C. to the late Douge and Geneva McIntyre Smith. 
James was the owner and operator of James Auto Repair in Maryland.  He was a member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, attending church services and cooking at his family gatherings. 
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Thomaszeen Smith Macon; five brothers, Leonard, Nezel, Billy, Andy and Douglas Smith; one sister, Evangelist Betty Smith Leak.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife of the home, Elizabeth Smith; four sons, Darrell McLean of High Point, Mark Herbert of Maryland, Cortez Herbert of Virginia and Steve McArthur of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Senthia Haythe of Maryland, Annie Threat of High Point and Tammie McAuthur of Maryland; stepmother, Eunice Ezekiel Smith of High Point; three brothers, Bobby (Carrie) Smith of High Point, Levon Smith and Edmond (Debbie) Smith both of Baltimore, Md.; five sisters, Pearlie (Charlie) Hawkins, Jennie Johnson, Mary (Knox) Quick, Dorothy Smith and Katie (Eve) Hope of High Point; 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at Greater New Hope Baptist Church.  Family visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the church.
