Frances (Fuzzy) Furr Best
HIGH POINT — Ms. Frances (Fuzzy) Furr Best, 86, resident of High Point, died January 28th, 2014 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Ms. Best was born August 19th, 1927 in Albemarle, NC, a daughter to the late John A. and Mae Culp Furr. A resident of this area most of her life, she graduated from High Point Central High School in 1944 and, in 1989, retired from Sears after 35 years of service. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she had been president of the Augsburg Adult Sunday School Class.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Jennifer Krushas officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Richfield, NC. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1401 Heathcliff Rd. Unzzie Lee Boyd
HIGH POINT – On Sunday, January 26, 2014, Unzzie Lee Boyd, age 91, went to her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while at Moses Cone Hospital.
Unzzie Lee was welcomed into this world by her parents, John and Carrie Archie on November 18, 1922. Unzzie Lee grew up learning the value of family and good work. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and being a homemaker. She was a member of First Emmanuel Baptist church for many years and served as a Missionary. She was married to the later John Henry Boyd.
In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, three sisters, two sisters-in-law and two great grandsons.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Elaine Mitchell of High Point and Juanita (Carl) McCormick of High Point; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; one special sister-in-law, Mrs. Edna Boyd; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many “play children and play grandchildren,” although not named you where very special to her.
A service to celebrate of life will be 12:30pm, Friday, January 31, 2014 at First Emmanuel Baptist Church. Family visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the church. STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — Mr. Mark Hayden Charles Jr., age 76, of Stockbridge, GA and formerly of Unity Street, Thomasville, passed away January 16, 2014. Mr. Charles was born in Davidson County, NC the son of the late Mark Hayden Charles Sr. and Blanche Fishel Charles. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, auctions, Goodwill and Salvation Army. He served his country in the US Army. His pride and joy was his Pomeranian dog “Foxy”. He is survived by his children; Terry Charles (Cynthia Branson) of Brown Summit, NC, Lisa C. Austin (Marty) of Jamestown, NC, and Robby Charles (Barbara) of Summerfield, NC; grandchildren, Brittany Charles, Scottie Dinkins, Ashlyn Austin, Melissa Charles, and Lauren Austin; brother, Woodrow Charles (Carolyn) of Thomasville, NC; special friend, Sylvia Crumbley of McDonough and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial service for Mr. Charles was held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Statham officiating. THOMASVILLE — Barbara Lynette Hudson, 48, of 205 Emma St., died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, in Forsyth Medical Center. MCLEANSVILLE — Louise T. Sechrest, 95, loving wife, mother, aunt and friend died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. She was born to the late Ernest and Florence Moffitt Tucker in Randolph County. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Melville Albert Sechrest and her only son Melville Lee Sechrest. Louise is survived by her daughter-in-law Brenda Sechrest , and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014, 1:00pm at Floral Gardens Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. C. Allen Myers.
