WINSTON-SALEM — Mrs. Kay L. Baker, 48, died on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at her residence. Johnson and Sons Funeral Home in High Point is assisting the family.
Flora Lovett Ball
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Flora Margaret Lovett Ball, 87, a resident of Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Pine Ridge. She was born on February 16, 1927, in Davidson County, to Paul Council Lovett and Bertha Sarah McCarn Lovett. She retired from Henredon Furniture and had been a resident of Thomasville her whole life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Leonard Ball Sr., on June 1, 1993,whom she married on July 3, 1943; son, Jimmy Ball; daughter, Vickie Steed; brother, Billy Lovett; and sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Beck and Virgie Lovett.
Surviving are her son, Rev. Ralph L. Ball Jr., of Edmond, Okla.; daughter, Judy Ann Ball of Thomasville; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Ralph L. Ball, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour prior to the service from noon until 1 p.m. and at other times at the home of her daughter, Judy, 108-B Bish Court, Thomasville. HIGH POINT — Ms. Jessie Sue Bare, 48, passed away Saturday at her residence. Arrangements are incomplete at Davis Funerals & Cremations.
TRINITY — Mrs. Virginia Haley Farlowe, 91, of Trinity, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014, at High Point Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Farlowe was born on September 11, 1922, in High Point to the late Andy J. and Bessie Chilton Haley.
On August 5, 1944, she married Eiland C. Farlowe, who preceded her in death on January 19, 2006. She was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Class, a former Sunday School teacher and a member of Fellowship Group No. 3.
She was also active in the seniors group, Charlie’s Angels and carried Meals on Wheels in the Trinity area for several years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Haley.
Surviving is her daughter, Eilana Farlowe Hoffman and her husband, Vic, of Wesley Chapel; grandchildren, Zachary Hoffman, Hayley Hoffman and Chandler Hoffman; and sister-in-law, Willie Haley. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mrs. Farlowe’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 4732 Robbins Country Road, Trinity, with Pastor Roger Weisner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. at the church.

HIGH POINT — Mr. Gene Helfer, 90, resident of High Point, died May 11, 2014 at Hospice Home at High Point. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Covenant Church United Methodist in High Point.
LEXINGTON — Helene Byerly Kirkus, age 94, of Alston Brook Nursing Home, formerly of S. County Home Road, died on Sunday afternoon, at Alston Brook.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

HIGH POINT — Joyce W. Little, 52, of 1916 Boulding Ave., made her transition on Saturday, May 10, 2014. She was born May 26, 1961, in High Point, a daughter of Wilson Moore, Sr. and Annie P. Moore. She was previously employed with the Stingers Grill at GTCC. She attended Lucy Coffin Ragsdale High School and was a member of Friendship Holiness Church.
Joyce was converted at an early age at Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a devout christian and was a Captain in the Army of the Lord. She had a love for and trust in God that was unwavering. She held various positions throughout the years at Friendship Holiness Church including Youth Director, member of various choirs, Praise Team, Assistant Financial Secretary and Assistant Announcer.
She was married to the late Rudolph Watson. Also preceding her in death, one sister, Betty Moore-Crite; one brother, Dennis R. Moore; one brother-in-law, James W. Little; in-laws, James and Allegra Little.
Surviving are her husband, Wayne Pat Little, of the home; sons, Vodray D. Moore and Keith Watson of Greensboro, Adrian (Sharonica) Watson of High Point, Derrick Crite of Gainesville Fla.; daughter, Patricia Little of High Point; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Moore Sr. of High Point; siblings, Wilson (Sharon Jean) Moore, Jr., Dockie D. Moore, Sheila (James) Gates, Sharon (Rev. Samuel III) Green, all of High Point, and Wanda (John) Latta of Gainesville Fla.; sister-in-law, Pam Moore; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rita (Leonard) Roberts, Sr., Earl (Jean) Little of Rockingham, Rowena (Harold) Johnson of Raleigh, and Larry (Elizabeth) Covington of Daytona Beach, Fla.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 1710 E. Green Drive. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown.
