THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Margaret Ellen Messer Saintsing, 85, a resident of Brian Center Nursing Care and formerly of Old Greensboro Road, died Sunday, February 16, 2014, at the Brian Center. She was born on January 11, 1929, in Marion, N.C. to George Washington Messer and Annie Messer. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas William “Buck” Saintsing on January 4, 2010, whom she married on May 30, 1947. Surviving are her children, daughter, Beverly S. Eddinger; sons, Ronnie Saintsing, Mark Saintsing, and Steve Saintsing. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery with Reverend Chris Clontz officiating. No formal visitation will be held. ARCHDALE — Elva Myrick Lawing, 91, formally of Westbrook Court in Archdale, went to be with the Lord on Thursday February 13, 2014, at Hospice Home at High Point. She was born in High Point on August 24, 1922, to the late Nellie Duggins Myrick and Robert L. Myrick. Married Clyde W. Lawing on December 7, 1940, who predeceased her in 2007 after 66 years of marriage. For most of her life she was dedicated homemaker but in her early years of her marriage she worked at Adams Mills. She was of the Baptist faith and in her later years looked forward to hearing Charles Stanley.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn (Carol) Stevens and husband Jim of Archdale and Janice Parsons and husband Gerry of Rutherfordton; sister, Nona Sink of High Point, brother, Johnny Myrick and wife Martha of High Point; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Beck and wife Linda of Canton, Sherri Gerringer and husband, Bryan of High Point, Tami Stevens of Holly Springs, Gerry Parsons ll and wife Robin of Rutherfordton; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Beck, Casey Gerringer and Trevor Hughes. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday February 19, 2014, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, a celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor John Vernon officiating followed by interment in Floral Garden Memorial Park. ARCHDALE — Homer Franklin “Frank” Michael, also known as “Ringo” to his close family and friends, 58, of Archdale, died Friday, February 14, 2014. Frank was born September 25, 1955, to the late Joseph and Rose Butler Michael. He worked in the maintenance department at Slane Hosiery Mills. Frank was a member of Cloverdale Church of the Living God. On August 26, 1989, he married the former Peggy Tomlin, who survives of the home. In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by children, Jason Melton and wife Jessica of Randleman, Jeremy Austin of High Point, and Jessica Rains of Archdale; sisters, Patsy Ward and husband James, Rosalee Roth, and Kathy Godbolt; brothers, Bobby Michael and wife Bobbie and Danny Michael; and 10 grandchildren. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Cloverdale Church of the Living God, High Point. She was born September 13, 1921, to Jimmy and Flora Locklear in Robeson County, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Woodrow Locklear and Clinton Oxendine; two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by six sons, Willie Oxendine of Thomasville, Jessie (Geraldine) Oxendine of High Point, Benson (Barbara) of Winston Salem, C.B. (Jennifer) Oxendine of Reidsville, Vance Oxendine of Clemmons and Jimmy Oxendine of Madison; one daughter, Geraldine Oxendine of Winston Salem; two brothers, James A. (Lisa) of Lumberton, NC and D.L. HIGH POINT — Raymond Andrew Fox, 88, passed away on Sunday February 16, 2014, at High Point Regional Medical Center. Born on January 13, 1926 in Tazewell County Virginia to Lava Sawyer Fox and Robert Fox. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughters; Lois and Rita, five brothers, one sister and three grandsons. Served his country in the U.S. Army during World War ll, married in 1947 to Virginia Hash Fox that precedes him in death after 49 years of marriage. Survived by daughters, Judy Rupard and husband David of Archdale, Vilma “Bam” Johns of High Point, Debra Fox of Thomasville, Kathy Guinn of Welcome, one brother Earl Fox of Welcome also seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday February 19, 2014, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
