Emma Lee
THOMASVILLE - Mrs. Emma Jane Leonard Lee, 82, of Boggs Rd. went home to be with her Lord Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Lee was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Davidson County a daughter of the late Edward W. Leonard and Lula Bell Beck Leonard. She was retired from Thomasville High School Cafeteria and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving: her husband Thomas M. Lee of the home; two daughters, Tammy L. Ball and husband Wayne of Thomasville and Marilyn L. Lonergan and husband John of Whitsell, NC; two sisters, Dora Miller  and Mary Desse Hicks and husband T.J. both of Thomasville. One grandson, Timothy Draughn and wife Ariana Guarino of Eden Praire, Minnesota, and one great-grandson, Liam Guarino-Draughn.
Graveside services for Mrs. Lee will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Victory Baptist Church Cemetery 280 Clodfelter Rd. with the Rev. Bobby Beck officiating. Mrs. Lee will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home 122 W. Main St., Thomasville, and the family will be at the funeral home Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m. and other times at the home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way Lexington, NC 27292.

Robert Voyles
HIGH POINT - Robert Harold Voyles, 92, of Westchester Manor went home to be with his Lord  Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.
Mr. Voyles was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Commerce, Georgia, a son of the late Timothy S. Voyles and Talitha Voyles. He was retired from Thomasville Furniture Ind. and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church, Deacon and a former choir member. Mr. Voyles was married to Gladys Irene Hilton; she preceded him in death Nov. 1, 2004. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Virgil Voyles.
Surviving: one daughter, Phyllis V. Tomb and husband Jerry of Charlotte; one son, Robert R. Voyles of Colfax; one sister, Rosella Messick of Florida. Three Grandchildren, Robert Jason Voyles, Bryan Steven Voyles and Stephanie Lynn Stamper and husband Jim. One great-grandson, Carson James Stamper.
Funeral services for Mr. Voyles will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, in the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill  Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Robert Lester Lee, Jr.
THOMASVILLE - Robert Lester Lee, Jr., 62, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center. Born on July 2, 1950, in Davidson County to Robert Lester Lee Sr. and Frances Elizabeth Thomas Lee.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and brother John Lee.
Robert worked for the City of Thomasville in the Utility department for over 40 years. He loved doing wood carvings as a hobby and taking care of his cats.
Survived by his loving wife of 42 years Rose Hooks Lee of the home; son Terry Lee; brothers, Billy Lee and his wife Tammie, Tom Lee, David Lee; sisters, Mary Gray, Barbara Lee, Tonya Hartsell, Diane Turner and her husband Jimmy, also 1 grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thomasville Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Bruno Wolf officiating.

Wes Hankins
HIGH POINT - Wesley F. “Wes” Hankins passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at his home. He was 72. Wesley was born June 25, 1940, in High Point to Akers Lee Hankins and Alma Barnes Hankins.
He attended Allen Jay High School and graduated in 1961. He played various sports, but loved football best.  He was employed by Burlington Industries, Marsh Armfield, and Olympic Products (a division of Cone Mills) later named Vitafoam. He retired at 58 and spent much time golfing and fishing. But his most important accomplishment in life was accepting Christ as his Savior on Nov. 10, 2012, not knowing he would soon be with Him.
Having been married for 51 years, he is survived by his wife Kathleen Stafford Hankins; his son, Kevin Hankins; grandchildren, Wesley Scott and Angel Haley Hankins. Brothers and sisters surviving are:  Harold (Marilyn) Hankins; Eugene (Savannah) Hankins; Ray Dell Hankins; Shelby H. (Wilton) Benson, Nancy Hankins, sister-in-law; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Junior Hankins; and a son, Jeffrey Dean Hankins, who died in 2002.
Wes’s best friend was Clarence (Buck) Varner who passed away in 2000.  The Varner and Hankins families have been good friends for many years, taking yearly beach trips together. Towa V. McNair and Cara V. Wagoner have been wonderful and steady caregivers through the period of Wes’ failing health, especially the last few weeks of his life. They are true and wonderful friends.
A service to celebrate Wes’ life will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, in Archdale, with Pastor Mike Owen officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 until the time of the service on Wednesday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wes’ memory may be made to: Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC  27405. James Rolph, Sr.

Cara T. Tipton
HIGH POINT - Mrs. Cara Tipton, 90, of the Allen Jay Community, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2012, at High Point Regional Hospital with her family by her side.
Cara was born in Unicoi, TN, a daughter to the late Fate Tipton and Bessie Hunter Tipton.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Tipton and her sister, Margie Higgins. She was a loyal member of Burton Street Missionary Methodist Church.  She was a wonderful, dedicated and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Hepler and her husband, Robert of Archdale, Larry Tipton and his wife, Kathy of Green Mountain, NC, Steve Tipton and his wife, Elaine of Traveler’s Rest, SC, Joan Saunders and her husband, Dwayne of Archdale; a brother Orville Tipton of Erwin, TN; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service with Rev. Jeff Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Burton Street Missionary Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donise McDaniel 
HIGH POINT - Donise Smith McDaniel, 84, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully at the Hospice Home in High Point the evening of Dec. 8, 2012, after many years of declining health due to Alzheimer’s.  Donise was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Denton, N.C., to the late Jay Richmond and Lola Flora Smith. She came to Thomasville  to attend Ashmore Business College. After graduating, she worked at Denny Roll and Panel Company for 20 years, and at Paramount Textile Machinery 22 years.
Donise married Allen Thomas McDaniel on Nov. 22, 1952, who survives of the home. Donise is also survived by one daughter, Connie Laster and husband Randy, and two granddaughters, Meredith Laster and Sarah Laster. She was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine S. Floyd.
Donise loved playing the piano, including Sundays at Jackson Hill United Methodist Church in her youth and for several years with a quartet at Lebanon United Methodist Church. Donise was a member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
A service will be held at 12 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11 with Reverend Mark Hollar officiating at Floral Garden Park Mausoleum.
The family is so very grateful for the love and care over the years from the many Hospice ladies, especially Noelia and Donise’s caregivers, especially Gussie Lindsey.

Joseph “Joe” Farlow, Jr.
TRINITY - Mr. Joseph “Joe” Walter Farlow, Jr., 90, of 3991 Roy Farlow Road, Trinity, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at High Point Regional.
Joe was born in Randolph County, a son to the late Joseph Walter Farlow, Sr. and Edna Millicent Farlow Farlow.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Stanley, James and Roy Farlow, four sisters, Margaret F. Davis, Verda Farlow, Clarece Farlow and Martha F. Hodgin and one great-grandson, Ryan Dickinson.  Joe was a member of Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting; he was a member of Quaker Men, Senior Friends, “Willing Fellowship” Sunday School Class, and served in many capacities in the Meeting. Joe was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Europe in World War II.  On Nov. 1, 1941, he married the love of his life, the former Irene Spencer.  He was the owner/operator of Farlow Frame Shop retiring in 1987. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Irene Farlow of the home; four children, Sarah F. Dickinson and husband, Paul, of Lakeland, FL, Don Farlow and wife, Mary, of Trinity, NC, Lowell Farlow and wife, Molly, of Singapore and Carolyn F. Hines and husband, Al, of Boone, NC; six grandchildren, Amy D. Brown, Mark Dickinson, Catherine F. Teng, Anna F. Carper, Aaron Hines and Tim Hines; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting with officiating ministers, Britt Groom, Brian Donley and Randy Quate.  Burial will follow at the Meeting Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.

Elsie Wray
LEXINGTON - Elsie Mize Wray, age 82, of Mize Road, Lexington passed away Saturday morning at her residence. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Matthew L. Miller officiating.  Burial will follow at Holly Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the church Family Life Center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
Elsie was born in Davidson County June 27, 1930, to William James Mize and Bessie Grubb Mize. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, member of Mary Circle, Senior Ministry and Altar Guild; she retired as a supervisor for Kayby Hosiery in Thomasville, after 26 years of service and later worked part-time with Your Pharmacy of Lexington. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard (Gene) Wray in 1992; daughter, Donna Lynn Wray in 1955; sisters, Estelle Parks, Nora Hege and Kathleen Pickett; brothers, Bill, Irvin, Fred (Pete) and Lee Mize.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Wray-Norman and husband Michael of Lexington; 2 sons, Greg Wray and wife Phyllis of Lexington and Sam Saunders and wife Robin of Fincastle, VA; 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Koontz and husband Carl and Ethel Leatherman all of Lexington.

CHARLOTTE - Mark Stephen McGaha, passed away unexpectedly, Dec 7, 2012, at University Hospital, Charlotte, NC. He was born July 15, 1953, in Asheville, NC, a son of the late Alvin Bruce McGaha and Hazel Lewis McGaha. Mark is survived by his mother, Hazel Lewis McGaha, of High Point, NC.; One brother, Michael D. McGaha and wife, Libby, of High Point, NC.;  One niece, Jennifer McGaha Craven and husband, Jack, of High Point, NC.;  Two nephews, Michael D. McGaha II and wife, Whitney, of Winston Salem, NC. and John D.
