Mary Austin
ASHEBORO — Mrs. Mary Ellen Porter Austin, 69, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 at Ridge Funeral Home.

Russell Jackson “Jack” Mull
WINSTON-SALEM — Mr. Russell Jackson “Jack” Mull, 81, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012. He was born April 21, 1931 in Iredell County. Mr. Mull served in the United States Army and was retired from Eastern Airlines.  He was a member of Abilene Church of Christ in Statesville. Mr. Mull had traveled extensively world-wide and was an avid auto racing enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nona Fox Thompson; and step-father, Dorrman Thompson.
Surviving are his wife, Karla Hasty Mull of the home; daughter, Dara Herrington and husband Charles from High Point; sister, Yvonne Pederson of Columbia; brother, Clark Thompson and wife Mary Gail of High Point; and three grandchildren, Heidi, Joseph, and Jeremy.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Wallburg with the Rev. Sam McKinney officiating.  Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donna Durham
LEXINGTON — Donna Kay Freedle Durham, 57 of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at her home. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. Davisdon Funeral Home is serving the Durham Family.

High Point — Mr. Michael Edward Austin, 58, a resident of High Point died Thursday.  Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel in Greensboro.

WINSTON-SALEM — Stevie “Steve” Joe Hedrick died Thursday evening Dec. 6, 2012, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House. A funeral service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Maple Grove Church of the Brethen.

Lester Breedlove
Jamestown — Mr. Lester Breedlove, 85, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012.
Lester was born on June 16, 1927 in Thomasville to his late mother Carrie Bell Gaddy.
A funeral service for Lester Breedlove will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9 in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point with Pastors Brad Bruce and Carol Carkin officiating. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
Lester was a dedicated service member of the United States Army. He retired from Oakdale Cotton Mill.  Lester was a member of Oakdale United Methodist Church in Jamestown and visited Bales Church in Jamestown where he had many friends.
Lester was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Nelda Breedlove.  Lester is survived by his daughter, Vickie Simmons and husband Carl of Thomasville, grandson, Carl Jr. and great-grandson, Ian; aunt, Bettie Miller of Jamestown; sister, Francis Mickey and husband Joe of Thomasville; brother-in-law, John Weir and fiancée Debbie White of Thomasville; brother-in-law, James Weir and wife Gail of Thomasville; sister-in-law, Peggy Marsh and husband Carson of High Point.  Lester is survived by many nieces and nephews that Nelda and he loved dearly.  He was loved and cared for by his niece, Lori Christian and his neighbors, Rhonda and Rick Reagan.

Willie Ruth Hill Byerly
LEXINGTON — Mrs. Willie Ruth Hill Byerly, 92, of Carolina House in Lexington, passed away on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1919, in Davidson County to Bennie Braxton Hill and Sadie Yates Hill. She was retired from Fair Grove Elementary School and was of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Rocky Wayne Byerly; one brother, Ralph Hill; one sister, Rita Nance; and one grandson, Frankie Byerly.  She married Willard Calvin Byerly who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Bennie Byerly and wife Pansy of Thomasville; one sister, Pat Nifong of Thomasville; and five grandchildren, Scotty Byerly and wife Angie and their daughter Amber all of Lexington, Holly Byerly of Lexington, Lisa Harrison and husband Rick of Lexington, Lane Byerly and wife April of Thomasville, and Joey Byerly of Thomasville.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Jason Koontz officiating.  There will be no formal visitation. The family will be at the home of the grandson, Scotty Byerly, 211 Lindel Ct. Lexington, N.C. 27292. Mrs. Byerly will remain at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the cemetery for the service. Jay M. Thomas
HIGH POINT – Jay Merrimon Thomas was born March 30, 1929 to Bernice Marsh Thomas and John Merrimon Thomas.
Life events progressed with Allen Jay valedictorian graduation 1946, Wake Forest degree and masters and pre-doctorate work at UNC-Chapel Hill. The Korean War beckoned and Jay served as a naval intelligence officer on the USS Oriskany. There followed a long period of domesticity with wife Millie M. Thomas, daughters Elaine T. Tipton, Kimberly T. Stemple and Kara Beth Thomas for whom he provided well. As time progressed, chronic lung infiltration took its toll, and then his life on Dec. 6, 2012.
Jay will be remembered for his quick biting wit, vast knowledge and recall, and elusive responses.
Others he deeply loves include sister Joyce Welborn, sisters Waneta and Nona (deceased), sons-in-law Steve, Jamie and Jeff, grandchildren Amanda, Lesley, Matthew, Patrick and Logan, great-granddaughter Nola, special granddog Fletcher, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Join us Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Floral Garden graveside for a brief informal service of celebration, love and Elan Vital (exuberance).
In lieu of flowers, please perform a Deed of Kindness or direct memorials to Hospice of the Piedmont.

David LeRoy Barringer
ASHEBORO – David LeRoy Barringer, 59, died on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012. 
There will be a private memorial service in his honor. Cremation services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.

Bobbie Jean Godbolt
HIGH POINT – Mrs. Bobbie Jean Godbolt, 73, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the High Point Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Godbolt was born in Marion, SC, March 22, 1939 a daughter of Brookie and Blanche Richardson.  She was a member of Cloverdale Baptist Church and she was employed by High Point Furniture until her retirement.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Godbolt and a brother, Joseph Richardson.  Bobbie Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Surviving are a son, Michael “Sam” Godbolt and wife Carol of High Point; a daughter, Wanda Kay Epperson of High Point; a sister, Betty York and husband Wayne of Fernandina Beach, FL; two brothers, Billy Richardson and wife Jean of Atlanta, GA and Jerry Richardson and wife Nancy of Florence, SC; three grandchildren, Jennifer Sadorf and husband Eric, and Thomas and Ryan Godbolt; three great-grandchildren, Christopher and Cheyenne Sadorf, and Gracie Godbolt.
A Celebration of Bobbie Jean’s life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by the Rev. David Younger.  Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
