SOPHIA — Mr. Jefferson Davis Miller, 83, a resident of 3526 Youth Camp Rd., died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 in the Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, NC.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at noon in Crossover Community Church, 723 Knightdale Ave., High Point, NC 27263. The family will greet friends prior to the service at the church from 11 a.m. to noon.

Nathaniel Flowers
WINSTON SALEM — Mr. Nathaniel “Nate” Flowers, 70, son of the late J.C. Flowers and Ida Little Cash was called home on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born in Wadesboro, N.C., where he attended and graduated from High School in Anson County. Upon graduation, he moved to Philadelphia where he met and married his wife Addie Mae McNeil Flowers who preceded him in death. From this union two children were born.
Nate was employed at Metal Stand for twenty five years and retired from Standard Press Steel (SPS) in January 2005.
He accepted and loved his Lord Jesus Christ. Nate was a member of North Providence Baptist Church in Philadelphia. Upon returning to North Carolina after the death of his beloved wife, he became a member of Mount Olive Church while also attending Union Baptist Church.
He leaves to love and cherish him forever: one daughter, Tanya (Edward Barcus) Flowers of Philadelphia, PA; one son, Nathaniel (Charisma Seigler) Flowers, Jr. of Lansdale, PA; two grandsons, Malik Barcus and Anthony Woodard; three great-granddaughters, Peyton, Carter and Dakota; three brothers; Robert (Millie) Brown of Walkertown, NC, Robert (Anita) Cash of Philadelphia, PA, Charles ( Angela) Cash of Winston Salem, NC; two sisters, Sheila (Robert) Love-Cash of Delaware, Yvonne Burley of Reading, PA; three sisters-in-law, Katherine Robinson of Chesilhurst, NJ, Thomasine  (Albert) Rorie of Darby, PA, Jonell (James) Leach of Kingston, NC; a special person in his life, Dorothy Chaney of Thomasville, NC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church, 828 Mary James Avenue, Thomasville, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.  Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC. The family will assemble at Phillips Funeral Service, Inc. 1810 Brockett Ave. at 9:15 a.m. to depart for the church.

LEXINGTON — Phoebe Shirley Curry, 91, of Old US Highway 29, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at the Chapel of First Baptist Church, Lexington. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son.

Harvey Norman Boone, Sr.
THOMASVILLE – Harvey Norman Boone, Sr., 70, of 238 Gobel Rd. Ext., Thomasville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012.
Harvey was retired from Shelba D. Johnson Trucking, as was best known among his trucking family as “The Gambler.” He was also an avid race car fan.
Harvey leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife Brittie (Sellers) Boone of the home; three daughters, Linda (Boone) Proctor and husband Fred, Brenda (Boone) Husted and husband Paul, and Donna Beck Fleming and husband Gary; two sons, Lonnie Boone and wife B.J., and Harvey Boone II; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Boone, mother Viola (Quick) Roscoe, a sister Hazel Hill, a brother Stoney Boone, and infant son Lonnie Norman Boone.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale. A visitation will be Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Holly Hill Cemetery. Anyone wishing to visit with the family during any other time is welcomed to the home of Harvey’s daughter Linda Proctor and her husband Fred at 290 Wood Hill Dr., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Earline Quick-Jenkins
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Earline Quick-Jenkins, 94, answered the Divine summons on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Triad Care and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born to the late Earon and Saddie Quick on February 11, 1918 in Bennettsville, S.C. where she attended Marlboro County Schools.
She later moved to Buffalo, N.Y. and was married to the late Roosevelt Jenkins. She was employed with the City Transit System in New York for many years.  After her health declined she relocated to High Point, N.C. with her sister Annie Pearl Rogers.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one sister, Annie P. Rogers of High Point, N.C.; four nieces, Corine Rogers, Levon (Melvin) Oliver and Annie Rogers all of High Point and Lori (Gary) Johnson of Wilkesboro, N.C.; two nephews, John (Mable) Rogers of Durham, N.C. and Larry (Mary)Williams of Dillon, S.C.; a host of other nieces and nephews from Dillon, S.C.; a cousin, Annie Moore of Washington, D.C.
The family wishes to thank Triad Care & Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of High Point for their exceptional support and care.

Grace Suits Welch Lewis
SOPHIA — Mrs. Grace Lewis, 85, of Sophia, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at High Point Regional with her family by her side.
Grace was born in Guilford County, a daughter to the late, Ernest and Floy Kidd Suits. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Lewis, two sisters and a brother, Margret Reddick, Omer “Bud” Suits and Opal Johnson. Grace was of the Baptist faith. She was employed with Crown Hosiery for 30 years. Grace enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful, dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
Grace is survived by six children, Tommy W. Welch and his wife, Vicki of Sophia, Ronnie Welch of Sophia, Judy W. Faircloth of Archdale, Brenda Stanley and her husband, Terry of Archdale, Gary Welch of Norman, NC and Larry W. Welch and his wife, Kathy of Archdale; one sister Margie Cox of Trinity; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 step grandchild and 2 step great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7 at Randolph Memorial Park with Rev. Doug Davis officiating.  The family will receive friends Friday, from noon until 1 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.

Ronnie Lee Bartley
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Ronnie Lee Bartley, 64, of West Holly Hill Road, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on Feb. 29, 1948, in Surry County, the son of James Isom Bartley and Ennis Todd Bartley. He was formerly employed at Black Cadillac Olds and was of the Baptist faith.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Paulette Royal; and one brother, Clifford Bartley.
Surviving are two daughters, Heather Lewis and husband Christopher of Thomasville and Crystal Lewis and husband Bryan of Randleman; three sisters, Jean Smith of Winston-Salem, Alice Mashburn and husband Ulysses of High Point, and Ruby Broadway of Sophia; two brothers, John Bartley of High Point, and James “Buck” Bartley of Archdale; and five grandchildren, Jacob Lewis, John Lewis, Nicholas Lewis, Jessie Lewis, and Bryson Lewis.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. in J. C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Stan Savage and Rev. Ulysses Mashburn officiating. Interment will follow at Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, 1855 Ramey Creek Road, Low Gap, N.C. Judith “Judy” Rich Jacobs
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Judith “Judy” Rich Jacobs, 72, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 following several months of declining health.
Mrs. Jacobs was born in High Point July 25, 1940, a daughter of William “Bill” and Vivian Rich.  Judy was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Jacobs and a sister, Nancy R. Odom. She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church.  She loved her Lord and church. She delighted in traveling and making new friends while cherishing her existing friendships. She had a great love of art and we will miss her very much.
Surviving are her special friend Fred Smith of Winston Salem, two sisters ; Jill Alford of Kennesaw, Ga. And June Rich of Atlanta, Ga., her two sons Jeff and wife Joan Jacobs and Andy Jacobs, two grandchildren, Megan and “CJ,” one step granddaughter Barbara and her Husband Sam Reynolds of Lexington, four great grandchildren, Lillian, Kenley-Jo, Issac, Logan and Serenity.
Funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Lebanon United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim James officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
