Jesse D. Davis
SOPHIA – Mr. Jesse Dean Davis, 19, a resident of 3754 Mt. Olive Church Rd, died Monday, December 3, 2012 at his residence.
He was born December 20, 1992 in Stuttgart, Germany, a son of Robbie Dean Davis and Helen Maye Dayley Davis. Jesse resided in Sophia with his wife and son. On June 23, 2010 he was married to Kristal Nichole Nelson.
He is survived by his wife, Kristal Nichole Nelson Davis of the home, a son, Tyson Nathaniel Davis of the home, parents, Robbie Dean Davis of Mooresville and Helen Maye Dayley Davis of Kings Mountain and brother, Tristan James Davis of Kings Mountain.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in Kings Mountain.

TRINITY – Joseph Willington “Joe” Giles, 74, a resident of Trinity, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012.
He was born June 8, 1938 in Cumberland County, NC, to the late Erskine Giles and Maggie Porter Giles. He had worked for Norling Studios for over 30 years, and he was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. At his church, he had served as a Deacon, a bus driver for the senior adults, and had served in many other capacities. He loved his church family, photography, learning the Spanish language and speaking it. In addition to his parents, he was a preceded in death by a daughter, Gina Marie Giles. On May 30, 1959, he was married to Carol Tew, she survives of the home.
Also surviving are his children; Paul Giles and his wife Toni of Trinity, Carol Sue Kennedy of Trinity, and Eric Giles of Thomasville, 2 sisters, Jessie Silber and her husband Bill of Hartsvville, TN, and Grace Surles of Linden, NC, 5 grandchildren; Lauren Giles Fulk and her husband Chris, Macy Giles, Abby Giles, Rachel Giles and Emily Giles, his great grandson; Thailan Fulk. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Joseph’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Trinity Baptist Church with Reverend J.C. Alley and Reverend Dennis Shaw officiating. Interment will follow in Randolph Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 PM at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. LEXINGTON – Mr. Otis Lee Harrell, 87, died Tuesday, December 04, 2012.

NEWTON, Texas — Franklin Sevier Harris, 43 of Texas, formerly of Hickory, died Saturday, December 1, 2012 in Texas. Born January 21, 1969 in Florida, he was the son of Delbert “Del” Franklin Harris and Beverly Jane Morrow Harris of Hickory.
Franklin was a 1987 graduate of Fred T. Foard High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked as a chef in Greensboro.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Mark Harris and wife, Elizabeth of Woodbridge, VA; and his maternal grandmother, Edna Ball Morrow of Hickory; and two nephews, William and Johnathan Harris survive him.
The Memorial Service will be 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

LEXINGTON – Guessie Phillips Hege, age 81 passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday at Union Grove Baptist Church. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
LEXINGTON – Ms. Gerline Hensley, 66, a resident of Beech Dr, passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at her residence. She was born July 22, 1946 in Guilford Co., NC, daughter of the late William Ardle Hensley and Kathleen Cody Hensley. Mrs. Hensley worked as a certified home health nurse for many years.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffery Dwayne Peace and wife Irum of Summerfield, NC and Randy Bryant Peace and wife Mary of Tennessee; one brother, Kermit Wayne Hensley and wife Evelyn of Winston-Salem, NC; one aunt, Betty Floyd of Thomasville; one uncle, C. L. Cody and wife Amy of Franklin, NC and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM in J. C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Erick Goff officiating. Ruth Lloyd Jones
THOMASVILLE – Ruth Lloyd Jones of Thomasville, NC passed away peacefully at Westchester Manor in High Point, NC on Thursday, November 29, 2012 with family and Piedmont Hospice caregivers by her side.
Mrs. Jones was born March 13, 1925 in Thomasville, NC to Fred and Ouida Lloyd. After graduating from Thomasville High School, she attended Ashmore Business College and then assisted her husband in owning and operating Jones Automotive and Frostemp, Inc. in the Greensboro and Charlotte area. They moved back to Thomasville in 1987 to be close to family and friends. Mrs. Jones was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, loved bowling and gardening. She will be remembered most for her vibrant energy, beautiful smile and immense love and support for her family.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband Neil W. Jones; brothers, Joseph Milton Lloyd, and Herbert Austin Lloyd; and sister, Peggy Lloyd Tucker. She is survived by her brother, Don B. Lloyd and his wife Charlotte of Thomasville, NC and 8 beloved nieces and nephews.
At her request, a memorial service for family will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Kenneth C. Kroohs, Rector of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church will officiate. THOMASVILLE – Mr. Stewart Collins (Junior) Kincaid, Jr. 42, a resident of 7214 Reddy Foxx Lane, died Friday, November 30, 2012. TRINITY — Mrs. Ellen Imojean Phillips Mitchell, 62 of Loflin Hill Rd. went home to be with her Lord December 3, 2021 a UNC Memorial Hospital.
Ellen was born October 8, 1950 in Jolo, West Virginia a daughter of James Arthur Phillips and Bertha Elizabeth Blakley Phillips. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in West Virginia and was able to donate her eyes and helped two people to regain their sight. She was preceded in death by her father, James Arthur Phillips.
Surviving her husband, Cisco Mitchell of Trinity; two daughters, Jena Darlene Maness and husband Stacy Gray Maness of Ramseur and Chrissy Jo Beavers and husband Damon Emmett Beavers of West Virginia; one son, Cisco Adam Wayne Mitchell of Trinity; her mother, Bertha B. Phillips of West Virginia; three grandchildren, Dustin Wayne Chandler, Heavenly Angel Sweeney and Brittany Nicole Mitchell Maness; one great-granddaughter, McKayla Jade Chandler; sisters, Josephine Estep and Drema Cooper and two brothers, Paul Phillips and James “Dobbin” Phillips all of West Virginia.
A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Hill officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and others times at the home.

Marlee Mitchell Oglesby
CHARLOTTE – Marlee Mitchell Oglesby passed away peacefully on Monday December 3, 2012 at Presbyterian Main Hospital. She was born November 3, 1936 in Cowpens, South Carolina to Rudolph Mitchell and Sunie Wofford Mitchell who preceded her in death. Marlee worked for the City of High Point Park and Recreations until her retirement and soon thereafter moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Jay Oglesby, Brothers Bobby Mitchell and Harold Mitchell Sr., Brother In-laws Wyatt Oglesby, Thomas Garfield Oglesby and John Oglesby as well as a Daughter –in-law Deborah Rorie Oglesby.
She is survived by her loving children Ricky Oglesby Sr., Annette Oglesby-Greene and Kenneth J. Oglesby (Angela) all of Charlotte, North Carolina, Sisters Louise Mitchell Wade Stewart, Betty Smith, Brothers John Paul Mitchell, Charles Mitchell (Patricia) all of South Carolina and Walter Mitchell of Thomasville, N C.
Brother in-laws James (Sarah), Ulysess (Delores), Kenneth (Betty) of High Point, N. C., Benjamin, Michael (Gwen), Terry (Shelia) all of Cowpens, S. C. and Sister-in-law Kathy (James) Fitzpatrick of Maryland.
Grandchildren Ricky Oglesby Jr., Ricky Dwan Timberlake, Latonya Oglesby of High Point, North Carolina and Efrem Jerome Baker of Oxon Hill, Maryland as well as six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at St. Paul Baptist Church 1401 N. Allen Street, Charlotte, N. C. 28205 starting with the visitation at 12:00 noon and the celebration at 1:00 p. m. Family and friends will be received at 10927 Parkleigh Drive, Charlotte, NC 28262. Ray Houston Wood
HIGH POINT – Mr. Ray H. Wood 87 passed away November 30, 2012 in Florida. He was a native of High Point but had resided in Orange Park, Florida for many ears. He retired as a 1st Sgt. from the US Army after serving his country for 26 years. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna S. Wood, daughter Carolyn Hedrick; 2 sons Houston Wood (Linda) and Kenny Wood; grandchildren, Chad Hedrick (Michelle), Kim Rowe (Donnie), Casey Wood, Trent Wood, Travis Wood (Megan), Elizabeth Tucker (Jimmy) and William Wood and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. Wood will be held 2:00 pm Saturday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service with interment to follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
