Granny Andrews

TRINITY — Alice Grayson “Granny” Andrews, 82, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014.

A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

HIGH POINT — Gregory Marshall Coleman, 53, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014.  Cremation services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.

 

Erica Marie Medley Davis

HIGH POINT — Erica Marie Medley Davis, 41, passed away Thursday July 31, 2014. She was born August  23,1972 in High Point.

She was a 1991 graduate of High Point Central.

She is survived by her husband, Ike Davis, three children, Tokota Waden, Talica Medley and Natalie Wheeler; two grandchildren; her parents, James and Dorothy Froneyburger; sisters, Mary Napper, Cassandra Wallace, Jamesia Brown, Amanda Jamison; two brothers, Lacey Medley and John Medley and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 9th, at Solid Rock Baptist Church. Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to People' s Funeral & Cremation Service.

HIGH POINT —  Margaret Lotts Robinson Gallimore passed away on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014 at her residence. Funeral arrangements are pending at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.

 

A. Darrell Harris  

GREENSBORO — A. Darrell Harris, Founder and CEO of Furnitureland South, died Friday August 8, 2014, at his home in Greensboro. By his side were his wife Stella S. Harris, and sons Jeffrey Harris and Jason Harris.  He was 71.

Mr. Harris was born in High Point in 1943. He earned a degree in Business at Gardner-Webb College.  He married the love of his life, Stella Sutton, in 1964.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict. 

In 1969 he and Mrs. Harris founded Furnitureland South, now the world’s largest furniture store, in Jamestown, NC. 

In 2010 A. Darrell Harris was inducted into the American Furniture Hall of Fame.  His company has been one of the top 50 furniture retailers for over 25 years. 

Mr. Harris highly valued his personal relationships with business associates and employees.  He found many ways to combine friendship with his favorite hobbies: golf, fishing, and softball.

His greatest passion and joy in life was his family.  He played an active role as father and grandfather. 

Mr. Harris’s Christian faith was central to his purpose in life.  He was a lifetime member of Green Street Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Stella Harris; Jeffrey and Stacey Harris, their children, Sydney, Tanner and Kendall; Jason and Jennifer Harris, their children Caroline, Lindsay, Sarah Parker, Jace, and Sophie; his brother Dennis Harris; and his sister Judy Johnson. 

Funeral services for Mr. Harris will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Green Street Baptist Church with the Reverend Richard Hardee, the Reverend Brandon Ware and the Reverend Dr. Robert Steele officiating.  Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will greet friends at the church Monday from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m.

Bruce Hedgecock

HIGH POINT — Bruce H. (Toby) Hedgecock, 72, died Thursday, August 7, 2014 at his home.

He was born March 7, 1942 in Guilford County, son of William Arthur Hedgecock and Julia Overcash Hedgecock.  On May 28, 1966 he married Jeannene Swaim. 

Mr. Hedgecock was retired from Estes Express Lines.  He was a member of Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife Jeannene Hedgecock; daughters, Dara Hedgecock of High Point, Ashley Boyles and husband Travis of Virginia; three sisters, Carolyn (Jim) Pope, Marilyn Mullis, and April (Kenny) Gordon; mother-in-law, Evie Swaim; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Greenwood Hills Capital Campaign or The Children’s Home Society of NC, Greensboro.

 

Payton 'PJ' Holland

HIGH POINT — Payton Jacob  “PJ” Holland,  5, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital.

A memorial service  will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. The family will greet friends following the service.

 

Amanda ‘Mandy’ Lowe 

DENTON — Mrs. Amanda “Mandy” Kay Pearson Lowe, 38, a resident of N. Main Street, died Thursday, August 7, 2014 at her home. 

She was born on June 12, 1976 in Davidson County, NC to James Lamonds Pearson and Rita Everhart Pearson.  She graduated from Central Davidson High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Laboratory Animal Science from A&T University.  She had previously worked at PPG Industries and most recently for Thomasville Medical Center. She was a member of From Behind the Veil Ministries and she loved her husband, daughters, and her church.  

She was preceded in death by a sister, Jamie Rochelle Pearson; and grandparents, Charlie and Mary Lee Everhart, Vestal and Hilda Pearson, and Charlie and Irene Howard.

On February 14, 1998, she married James Franklin “Jim” Lowe, Jr., who survives of the home. Also surviving are her daughters, Victoria Abigail Hayes, Jamie Lee Lowe, and Elizabeth Caroline Lowe, all of Denton; her parents, Lamonds and Rita Pearson of Lexington; sister, Amy Michelle Hughes and husband Jimmy of Thomasville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James Lowe, Sr. and Donna Lowe; brother-in-law, Brad Lowe and wife Christy; sister-in-law, Teela Tysinger and husband Cory; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Wayne Shortt and Rev. Tommy Shortt officiating.  Interment will follow in Mountainview Memorial Gardens in Denton.  The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 pm and at other times at the home.

Patricia Meadows  

HIGH POINT — Patricia Rose Meadows, 65, a resident of High Point died Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

She was born December 22, 1948 in Forsyth, Montana, the daughter of Aubrey William and Rose Marie Fahrenbruck Cranford. She was married to Dwight Lee Meadows, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are her two sons, Roy William Pine of Raleigh, Jesse Wayne Meadows and his companion Aleshia Tounzen of Concord, and three grandchildren, Carina Rose Meadows, Cady Banker Pine and Aubrey Louis Pine.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel with Reverend Dr. Don Clement officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

HIGH POINT -  Kay Finch Patseavouras died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at her residence.

HIGH POINT — Joseph Nathaniel Raynor, 45, passed away on Wednesday, Aug.

6, 2014.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Cremation

Erlene Little Rogers

THOMASVILLE —  Erlene Little Rogers, 67, born August 16, 1946 in Thomasville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 7, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.

A public celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, her birthday, August 16, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Unity United Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.

Erlene was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Millie Little of Thomasville. She is survived by her two sons, H. Wayne Rogers, Jr. of Lexington and Darrin J. Rogers of Thomasville. Also surviving are her three granddaughters, Elizabeth K. Rogers of Boone, NC, Emily K. Rogers and Sarah Connelly both of Thomasville.

Erlene was a lifelong resident of Thomasville where she was a graduate of Thomasville High School. She was employed at Brayton International and then with Steelcase until her retirement in 2010. Other than her yearly beach trips, her focus then turned to her grandchildren. She loved their visits and the attention they gave her. There will be a void in each of their lives now with their Nana gone. Her greatest accomplishments were her two sons and the impact she has had on her grandchildren and her many friends and coworkers. She will be missed by all that knew her.

DENTON — Lillie Mae Sexton Scarboro, 92,  died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Gravel Hill Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Gravel Hill Baptist Church. Briggs Funeral Home is serving the family.

LEXINGTON — Elsie Coppley Starr, 83, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10,  at Bethany United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.
