Dorothy Bostic
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Dorothy Parrish Bostic, 92, of 1612 Bolingbroke Road died on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Durham County on April 17, 1922 to the late Harvey and Iva L. Parrish. She was a graduate of North Carolina College, now North Carolina Central University, and received her Master of Arts Degree from Columbia University, New York City. Her teaching career spanned thirty-six years. She retired in 1979. She was an active member of Greater First United Baptist Church until her health declined. In addition to her parents, her husband, Rufus Bostic, Jr. and a sister, Hazel Garcia preceded her in death.
Surviving relatives include three nephews, Minister John Larry Ingram, Louis Larry Garcia (Jan), and Pastor Donald R. Ingram, Sr. (Carolyn); one niece, Gloria I Bellamy (Larry); grand nephew, Michael Garcia (Shirley); grand niece, Joanna Garcia; several first cousins, sister-in-law Maxine Ingram, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Greater First United Baptist Church, 1409 Deep River Rd. Burial will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown. Family visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. at the church on Tuesday and at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merritt and Yvonne Short, 2637 Dandelion Drive, Monday evening at 6 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.johnsonandsonsinc.com.

Reuben Boyd
HIGH POINT — Mr. Reuben Boyd, 86, of 7544 McDerr Rd., died on Friday, June 6, 2014, at High Point Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Rosa Bell Carter
HIGH POINT — Rosa Bell Gibson Carter, the eldest of 6 children born to Alley Gibson and Mattie E. Allen Gibson began her earthly pilgrimage July 7, 1913, in Walnut Cove, N.C. She departed this life June 4, 2014, at Shannon Gray Rehabilitation and Recovery Center in Jamestown, N.C.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry Talmadge Carter, Sr., four sisters, Gladys Beatty Wiley, Betty Gibson Covington, Helen Gibson Russell and Lettisha Gibson Manley, and one brother, Alley Gibson, Jr.
Surviving relatives to cherish her legacy and memory are her two daughters, Betty Carter
Jefferies (Henry) of High Point and Barbara Jean Carter of Charlotte, N.C., two sons, Henry Talmadge Carter Jr. of High Point and Dr. Ronald Lee Carter of Charlotte, N.C., seven
grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 9, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, 1327 Cedrow Drive, High Point, N.C.. Family visitation will be 11 a.m. preceding the memorial service.

Doris Hiatt
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Doris Spainhour Hiatt, 87, of Carrington Place, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, June 7, 2014, at High Point Regional Hospital. She was born September 14, 1926, in Guilford County to the late James William and Grace Teague Spainhour.
Mrs. Hiatt was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Warren Hiatt; and brother, Bill Spainhour.
Surviving are her two daughters, Brenda H. Zenker and husband Ronald of Thomasville, and Gail H. Aderhold and husband Doug of Winston-Salem; and granddaughter, Brandi Zenker.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chris Clontz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 until time of service at the church and at other times at the home of Mrs. Hiatt. The family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the Mt. Minnie Hutcheson
ASHEBORO — Mrs. Minnie Jane Peace Hutcheson, 105, of Asheboro, N.C., died Saturday, June 7, 2014. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Ridge Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

Lisa Norman
ARCHDALE — Mrs. Lisa Medford Norman, 48, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 6th at her residence. Lisa was born in High Point, October 23, 1965, a daughter of Jackie and Shirley Medford. Lisa was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed treasure hunting at thrift stores with her husband, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She cared for others more than herself. Lisa attended Archdale Assembly of God and she was preceded in death by her father.
Surviving are her husband of 31 years, David Norman; three sons, David William Norman and wife Brandi, Jonathan and Daniel Norman; her mother; a sister, Leigh Turner and husband Herman; brother, Donald Medford and wife Tammy; sister in law, Trish Snider and husband Paul; two brothers in laws, Neil Norman and wife Nichole and Mark Norman and wife Amanda; father and mother in law, Roger and Karen Norman.
A Celebration of Lisa’s Life will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Trindale Community Church, 5934 Surrett Dr. Archdale by Pastor Billy Myers. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 12 noon until the service. Friends may send flowers or make a donation to the MS Society. Betty Self Smith
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Betty Jane Self Smith, age 68, of Thomasville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 12, 2014, after losing her 8 year battle with breast cancer. She was born December 2, 1945, to the late Vince Self and Virginia Carty Black. Betty was a caring wife to William Lee Smith, a loving mother of four and their spouses; Connie Lynn Smith Carter and Jeff Carter, Rex Edward Smith and Donna Smith, Rhonda Kay Danley Riggs and Robert Riggs, and Richard Douglas Allen Danley and Samantha Danley and she was an amazing grandmother to twelve wonderful grandchildren; Andrea, Jeffrey, Cory, Chase, Margaret, Kathryn, Allison, Ashlyn, Katelyn, Madison, Leeland, and Harper.
She got the most enjoyment out of being with her children and playing with her grandchildren. She fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling to the Holy Land and was baptized in the River Jordan.
Betty has six surviving siblings; Katherine Brannock, Sam Self, Shirley Upchurch, Vonna Easter, Glenda Johnson, and David Self. She was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Self.
A Celebration of Life service will be held June 14, 2014 at noon. The service will be performed by Rev. Jenna Grogan at Mount Pleasant UMC, 8710 Meadowbrook Dr., Tobaccoville, N.C. 27050.
