TE Connectivity to begin layoffs in April
A north High Point manufacturer of electrical components for appliances will begin layoffs this spring.
Multiple media outlets reported Tuesday that TE Connectivity, which announced in November that it would close its Piedmont Triad Parkway plant by the end of 2013 and cut its work force there of approximately 620 positions, will begin shedding jobs in April. It was reported that the layoffs will continue in phases through the end of the year.
The plant is in High Point but has a Greensboro address.
The facility makes connectors for refigerators, washers and dryers.
Work from the closing plant will reportedly be transferred to facilities in Pennsylvania, Mexico and China. The closure will not affect the company’s three other Triad locations, which include another High Point plant next to the one that is closing. The other two are in Greensboro and Winston-Salem.
