Pauling leaps into CIS event

Feb. 18, 2013 @ 09:32 PM

With a son attending a local high school and as member of the Community in Schools of High Point board of directors, Rosalyn Pauling took a dancer’s leap into the CIS “Dancing with the High Point Stars” fundraiser.
The event will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 23 at Showplace in downtown High Point.
“I wanted to get involved with the community,” said Pauling, manager of North Carolina employee communication and events for  Ralph Lauren Corp. “CIS helps kids so I decided to do the event.”
Pauling will perform a Latin-style dance with Fred Astaire Dance Studios professional Alyosha Anatolly. She has been practicing since January.
“He’s working me on this,” Pauling said. “I love to dance. I danced in school up until the 12th grade, but all of that is gone now.”
The local dancers will receive awards for most votes, best dance and best costume. “This is a great workout and I’m trying to lose weight too,” Pauling said. “This is good motivation. It’s fun and I get excited about it.”
All the local “stars” will be paired with professional dancers who know the moves and can help those who struggle. Pauling has a “snake” move in her routine.
“But it does not look that way all the time,” she said.
Anyone can cast a “vote” for $10 for a dancer without attending the event.  There is no limit on the number of votes you can buy.  Money from the event supports the CIS mission to offer students a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult.
