Two men arrested in sweepstakes bust

Two High Point men were busted Tuesday for operating an illegal sweepstakes operation, according to High Point police.
Konstanttonos Rizos, 47, of 3534 Woodview Drive, and Patrick Tucker, 39, of 707 Westwood Ave., were charged with illegal sweepstakes operation and possessing for sale alcoholic beverages without obtaining ABC and revenue licenses.
High Point police department’s vice and narcotic’s squad received a complaint that the operation was going on at 1411 Welborn St., Suite 103.
Police say they found the operation run “speakeasy” style with blacked-out windows and patrons had to be buzzed in to enter the business. Rizos was named the business primary operator and Tucker was manager, according to the police report.
A search warrant was issued, and police found 17 stand up sweepstakes machines, laptops, surveillance cameras, computer equipment, paperwork, 223 cans of malt beverage, four boxes of wine and $7,926 was seized.
Rizos and Tucker were both released from jail on a written promise to appear.
