House fire leaves seven homeless
HIGH POINT — A fire in a two-story house Monday left seven High Point residents homeless.
The fire at 2610 Cartsen Ave. was reported at 7:30 p.m. Firefighters found smoke coming out of the residence, said High Point Fire Department Captain Denita Lynch.
The blaze caused heavy damage to the older house, Lynch said, but no damage estimates were immediately available.
Firefighters used several engines to pump water on the fire.
“All the people got out and there were no injuries,” Lynch said.
An investigator remained at the scene as firefighters checked for hot spots.
“We did not immediately find a cause or origin for the fire,” Lynch said, “but the investigation will continue.”
The Red Cross assisted residents with a temporary place to stay.
