Phoenix Academy students ship care packages to NC soldiers
Phoenix Academy student packed what will become 37 boxes of comfort items for North Carolina-based soldiers in Afghanistan.
The toiletry and snack items will be shipped to the 151st Engineer Company of the North Carolina National Guard in Kabul Province.
“They say these things keep them going there,” said Susan Crawford, a member of the school staff whose son Billy is a specialist in the company.
The National Guard company is headquartered in Laurinburg.
All 300 academy students participated in collecting donations and many of them helped to pack them.
