The Friends of High Point Library are doing some winter cleaning, and if you’re a bookworm, you may want to claim some bounty.
The High Point Public Library, 901 N. Main St., will have a used book sale on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in the Morgan Community Room and adjacent area.
“We do three book sales a year, and they are great fundraisers. Who doesn’t love books?” said Holly Davis, publicity director. “It gives people an opportunity to get slightly used books at wonderful prices, and it helps them recycle the books in their homes that they have already read.”
A preview sale, limited to members of the Friends of the Library, will be held Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to noon. Davis said those who are not members and are interested in supporting the library and participating can join the group that morning.
“We would love for people to support the Friends by becoming a member,” Davis said. “One thing that being a member of the Friends does for you is get you into the book sale earlier.”
The sale will offer hardbacks for $2, paperbacks for 50 cents, children’s hardbacks for 50 cents, children’s paperbacks for 25 cents and coffee table books for $3.
Audio-visual materials will be priced between $1 and $3.
“We have been sorting through books on a weekly basis. It is an ongoing thing for us,” Davis said. “People can donate books anytime, and we get books from the library.”
Davis said residents should come out and enjoy the sale.
“Where else can you get a hardcover book for $2 or a paperback for 50 cents? You just can’t do that any other place,” Davis said. “Plus it helps the library, and you can get a bunch of books for less versus going to a retail book store.”
All proceeds go towards helping the library out with special projects, according to Davis. | 888-3657
