High Point man arrested following high-speed chase
High Point police have arrested a man they say stole a vehicle and led them on a high-speed chase into Greensboro.
Jarrell Decarlo Bratcher, 24, of Hickory Chapel Road, High Point, was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny, possession of a stolen vehicle, kidnapping, felony speeding to elude arrest, possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, two counts of reckless driving and two counts of speeding 15 mph more than the speed limit.
Police received a call from a resident on Monday at 11:59 p.m. reporting that the resident’s vehicle was stolen from the 500 block of Saunders Place during an armed robbery, according to police.
The resident reported being hit in the head before being robbed of a wallet and being left in a nearby wooded area.
At 12:54 a.m., police saw the vehicle at Carter Street and Leonard Avenue. When police got behind Bratcher, he took off traveling onto US 29/70 and I-85, where Greensboro police officers and Guilford County sheriff’s deputies joined in.
Bratcher stopped the car near mile marker 130 on I-85 and was arrested. He is in the Guilford County Jail in High Point under a $350,000 bond.
No injuries occurred during the incident and an investigation is ongoing.
