DSS hosts job fair Wednesday

County social workers say they hope to match people with jobs at a dozen companies during a Wednesday job fair.
Department of Social Services officials usually do not directly sponsor job fairs in their buildings. Interviews will be held and some positions will be filled the same day, said Pam Watkins, a DSS representative.
“We at DSS understand our responsibility to employers in Guilford County.  When we can match them with people looking for work, everybody wins,” Watkins said.
DSS wants to join the effort to encourage the economic independence of residents and to provide employers with well-trained applicants.
Positions are available in sales, warehousing, customer service, hospitality, and the food industry. Some of the employers include:

•Carolina Staffing,
•The City of Greensboro,
•Goodwill Industries
•Greensboro Marriott
•Golden Living Center
• Home Health Connections
•McDonalds
•Patriot Staffing
•Safe Link
•Sears Retail
•Select Staffing
•Wendy’s
•XLC Services

The job fair is the result of a partnership between the N.C. Department of Commerce, DSS, Guilford County Child Support, Step Up Ministry, Job Link Career Center M8D 2 Rise and Project Reentry.
