Street closings Saturday for HPU move-in

Sections of a pair of streets in the city around High Point University will be blocked to normal traffic Saturday as students arrive for the 2013-14 HPU academic year.
Montlieu Avenue will be closed between N. College Drive and Centennial Avenue. Also, E. Farris Avenue will be closed between Fifth Street and W. College Drive, according to the university.
Southbound lanes on N. College Drive will be modified for HPU move-in day, but the road will be passable and local traffic won’t be detoured.
Move-in day begins at 7:30 a.m. The university has 1,300 freshmen moving in intervals until 5:30 p.m.
The city placed large, electronic signs earlier this week on roadways around the university to alert motorists to today’s road closings.
