Sound off to elected official

Jan. 28, 2013 @ 03:29 PM

Constituents of area state legislators concerned about issues that would come up in this year’s N.C. General Assembly session will have a chance to express their views during a series of town halls organized by Rep. Marcus Brandon, D-Guilford.
The town hall meetings begin in High Point Feb. 7 at the Carl Chavis YMCA; in Greensboro Feb. 28 at the Trotter Recreation Center; and in Greensboro March 7 at the Lindley Park Recreation Center. Each town hall is from 6-8 p.m.
Discussion at the town halls will include local community concerns and upcoming legislation in the General Assembly. State legislators began the 2013 session at the first of this month. The High Point town hall will be held jointly with Guilford County Board of Education member Carlvena Foster.
At each meeting, Brandon will discuss education, the role of ex-offenders reintegrating into society and health care, including the state’s role in the Affordable Healthcare Act. After Brandon’s remarks, the floor will open for questions and remarks from the audience.
All local residents are welcome to attend, regardless of their residency or party affiliation. For more information, call Brandon’s office at (919) 733-5825.
