PTIA gets new service to Florida
Allegiant Air will provide travelers from Piedmont Triad International Airport with another direct service destination to Florida starting later this spring.
The airport announced Thursday morning that Allegiant will begin new nonstop service to and from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport beginning June 6. The discount carrier will launch the new service with twice weekly flights from PTIA on Thursdays and Sundays. The flight time is approximately two hours.
With the new service, Allegiant will offer nonstop flights to three Florida destinations from PTIA each week, including Orlando Sanford International Airport and St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport.
“Travelers throughout the Triad and southwest Virginia have responded very well to Allegiant’s low-fare, nonstop service to Florida from PTI,” says Henry Isaacson, chairman of the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority. “With the addition of Fort Lauderdale, Allegiant now offers low-fare, nonstop service to three of Florida’s most popular destinations.”
Allegiant is offering a special introductory, one-way fare of $64.99. Tickets must be purchased by midnight March 28 for travel through Oct. 28.
Allegiant and PTIA also are conducting an online contest to give away one pair of tickets on the inaugural flight, departing on June 6 and returning June 9. The website for the contest is www.ptilowfares.com.
In January, Allegiant boarded more than 2,500 passengers to Florida destinations from PTIA, the airport reports. PTIA also has nonstop service to Miami provided by American Airlines.
