The last meeting of 2012 had the city’s tourism group in high spirits.
The High Point Convention & Visitors Bureau board met Wednesday and invited past chairpersons and members.
Outgoing treasurer Chris Greene reported that the bureau spent the year in the black and congratulated the staff for being able to work with a budget.
“We have a wise staff that we’ve stayed within what we bring in,” Greene said. “And that’s a real compliment to a person that can stay within a budget.”
The board members also discussed the progress of its new marketing campaign with consultant Woodbine, which is finalizing the details on the CVB website, sales collateral and an ad-board campaign to run after the launch of the website in early January.
Outgoing members were honored for their service to the CVB and to High Point with plaques and a gift.
Mayor Bernita Sims appointed new council member Jay Wagner to serve on the CVB board and the High Point Chamber of Commerce appointed Kelly Sain as ex-officio and George Clopton as a board member.
The board also approved the nominees for officers that include Kevin Archer for chairman, Mena Parrish as vice chairwoman, Mary Lou Blakeney as treasurer, Meredith Williams as assistant treasurer and Jim Morgan as past chairman.
