HPU campus draws families for holiday celebration - event continues tonight
Three-year-old Jax Neal wasted no time Wednesday night enjoying the Community Christmas Celebration at High Point University.
The boy bounced around in an inflatable, colorful castle, then dashed out of the castle to a roving elf who was helping children spin a plastic top on the point of a short, wooden stick. Later, the child would meet with Santa Claus to offer his wish list for Christmas Day.
The boy’s grandmother, Stephanie Easterby of High Point, smiled as she hustled to follow her excited grandson across the HPU campus that opened up for the third annual Christmastime public gathering.
“This is awesome,” Easterby said. “It’s wonderful they do this for the community.”
A large crowd of families filed onto the campus on a crisp, clear night for the first of two evenings of the celebration. The on-campus Christmas activities conclude today. They are:
• 5 to 5:30 p.m. – Lloyd’s Joyful Sounds Choir from Christ United Methodist Church
• 5:30 to 6 p.m. – Shadybrook School Choir
• 6 to 7 p.m. – High Point Central High School
• 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. – Penn-Griffin School of the Arts choir
