Police officers responded Wednesday night to a fight in south High Point that left a teenager shot and may have involved 30 to 40 people.
The altercation started in the 200 block of Taylor Avenue, with the group moving a couple of blocks to the 700 block of S. Main Street, according to  High Point Police Department Capt. Steve Myers. A 14-year-old boy was shot in the jaw, Myers said, though it didn't appear initially that the injuries were life-threatening.

People around the area called police about reports of shots fired and some type of fight involving a large group.
The first call came in about 6:23 p.m., Myers told The High Point Enterprise. Police still are investigating what prompted the fight.
