Police are investigating a robbery and shooting that happened in High Point last night that left one man injured.
The robbery happened at Fairview Street and W. Willis Avenue at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Two men were out walking when they were approached by two African-American men, according to Capt. Mike Kirk.
“They pulled out handguns and told them not to move,” Kirk said. “We are not exactly sure what happened next because the case is still in the initial stages, but evidently the men ran and one of them was shot.”
One of the men robbed was shot three times but his injuries are not life-threatening. The robbers took an undisclosed amount of cash. The injured man was transported to High Point Regional Hospital for treatment.
“Fortunately, the bullets did not hit anything significant and they think he will be okay,” Kirk said.
Officers were able to get a description, which they are not releasing at this time, and have been canvassing the area of the shooting.
“The investigation is still in it’s initial stages and we are still checking up on everything,” Kirk said. “We know some people heard it and saw some folks running but that’s it.”
Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call Crimestoppers at 336-889-4000.
