Piedmont Triad International Airport received $5.8 million in state money for a set of major projects.

The N.C. Division of Aviation awarded $5.8 million, through a fund called State Aid to Airports, to PTIA for capital improvements, the DOT announced recently.
The funding includes:
• $1.3 million reimbursement for the HondaJet terminal area development, including the headquarters and manufacturing buildings
• $4 million for site work for economic development associated with TIMCO’s new maintenance, repair and overhaul facility
• $500,000 for construction of airfield improvements.
PTIA has an approximate $1.9 billion annual impact on North Carolina and supports more than 7,700 jobs, based on a 2012 statewide economic impact study, according to the DOT.
