Thomasville Medical Center officially joined the aubergine purple-colored brand of Novant Health on Wednesday.
Although the hospital has been associated with Novant Health for years, TMC joined other affiliated Triad hospitals to celebrate the branding. Staff and mission will remain the same, said Kathie Johnson, president of Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center.
“We are uniting Novant Health facilities across four states to make it easier for our patients to expect remarkable health care at any Novant Health facility and understand the relationship between all our locations — whether it is their physician or local hospital. We are bringing world-class technology to the patients here when and where you need it. We are reinventing the health care system to make it simpler and convenient and affordable,” Johnson told a gathering of employees.
Another step in the strategic plan includes open access for patients. Real-time online appointment scheduling, E-visits, and collaborative patient-clinician care.
“We have a strong history of caring for people in our community. And we do it so well, the community cares for us,” Johnson said. “We are all dedicated in making our brand successful.”
Over the past several years, Novant has focused on the safety of patients and invites them to have a voice in their care. Screening all admitted patients for type 2 diabetes has discovered nearly 5,000 people with previously undiagnosed cases, according to Novant.
“We are ready for everything,” said Sam Barefoot, Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center board chairman. “We are ready before the patient arrives.”
Novant Health employees celebrated changes Wednesday across the Triad. Gone is the green and blue of the former Novant logo. New purple signage was unveiled at all acute-care facilities. Hospitals also displayed new imagery on parking gates and campus flags.

History:  Winston-Salem-based Novant Health is one of the top 25 integrated health systems in the United States. Formed in 1997, Novant Health has grown from four to 13 acute-care facilities, more than 100 outpatient facilities and over 350 physician practice facilities in four states.

Services: In 2012, Novant Health provided more than $500 million in community benefit, including charity care and services.

Triad: These affiliated hospitals also held branding celebrations on Wednesday: Novant Health Clemmons Medical Center, Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center and Novant Health Medical Park Hospital in Winston-Salem.
