Police seek man who attacked 90-year-old woman
Law enforcement officers are still searching for a suspect who assaulted an 90-year-old woman in Thomasville during a robbery Saturday night.
Thomasville police officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Unity Street responding to a reported home invasion shortly after 7 p.m.
Officers arrived to find the 90-year-old woman inside her home with injuries to her arm and leg along with bruising on her face, police said.
The woman told police she had been working in her yard before she went back in the house and a man attacked her as she walked in the door, officials said.
The man demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. The woman was treated at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and released but was unable to provide a description of the suspect, officers said. Police are going door to door looking for witnesses. Det. Ross Conover stated in a press release that it is possible that the suspect saw a family member leave the house and didn’t think anyone was at home.
Anyone with information or who may have seen anything suspicious is asked to call Thomasville Police at 336-475-4284 or Crime Stoppers at 336-476-8477.
