Authorities catch suspect in stabbing death
Law enforcement officers this morning caught a suspect trying to flee the country after a stabbing death that happened Saturday night at a residence in Randleman.
Deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house on Leonae Drive at 10:20 p.m. after receiving a call about an assault. When deputies arrived, they found an Eduarrdo Bonilla Hurtado, 43, on the floor with multiple stab wounds. Hurtado was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
“The victim was found by a friend who had come by to visit him. The victim had been deceased for several hours,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Edgar Saldana Ramirez, 21, was apprehended by authorities today. Warrants were drawn up charging Ramirez with first-degree murder, and Ramirez is being held without bond.
Ramirez was arrested late this morning at Piedmont Triad International Airport as he was attempting to board a plane and eventually reach Mexico. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office received information that Ramirez was attempting to flee and contacted PTIA police, who handled the arrest.
“A motive has not been established at this point in the investigation, and it is unclear how the victim and suspect knew one another,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
