Pot bust nets $121,600 worth of plants

Two men and a woman were arrested this week and charged in a marijuana bust in Sophia that involved 152 pounds of pot with a street sale value of $121,600, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office reports.
On Monday, deputies searched a house and property at 3664 Beckerdite Road. Detectives found and seized 28 marijuana plants growing in a field near the house. At an outbuilding, two more marijuana plants were found, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Inside the house, detectives found processed marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a firearm with ammunition.
The total weight of the plants and processed marijuana is approximately 152 pounds. Deputies estimate the value of the marijuana seized is approximately $121,600.
The three suspects charged are all being held under $50,000 secured bonds, the Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday. The suspects are:
• Arthur Dale Loflin, 56, of 3686 Beckerdite Road, and Thea Gail Malicoat, 54, 3664 Beckerdite Road, both charged with two counts of trafficking in marijuana, maintaining a place for a controlled substance, conspiring to traffic in marijuana, three counts of simple possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possessing, selling or buy a gun with an altered serial number and possession of a firearm by a felon.
• Christopher Oliver Moore, 39, of 3664 Beckerdite Road, charged with two counts of trafficking in marijuana, conspiring to traffic in marijuana, maintaining a place for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
