A 59-year-old woman from northern Randolph County died about a mile from her home when her car struck a box truck early Saturday morning.

Aleda Vernon was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck at 6:45 a.m. near Lilly Flower Road and Old U.S. 311 near Archdale.
Vernon was traveling south on old U.S. 311 when her vehicle crossed the center line into the path of the box truck, which was headed northbound.
After Vernon’s car struck the box truck, it careened across the center line into the path of a minivan.
The driver of the box truck and the driver and passengers in the minivan suffered minor injuries, said state Highway Patrol Trooper W.J. Davis.
Davis told The High Point Enterprise that no charges will be filed in the wreck.
