Ralph Lauren seeks resumes this Wednesday

One of the city’s steadiest employers, through good and bad economic times, will hold a career fair this week as it expands its work force again.
Ralph Lauren Corp., which has several operations in High Point and has become the city’s second-largest employer, will hold the career fair from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Morehead Recreation Center east of downtown at 101 Price St. Ralph Lauren is in the midst of adding 900 jobs through its five city facilities.
The career fair — the second of three that the company will host during a period of years — is part of Ralph Lauren’s commitment through an economic incentives agreement with the city of High Point.
Approximately 25 departments of Ralph Lauren will have booths at the career fair, said Loren Hill, president of the High Point Economic Development Corp.
“There are many jobs that need to be filled now, and additional jobs that will be filled over the next several months,” Hill told The High Point Enterprise.
The company announced the first phase of the 900-job expansion in 2010.
Ralph Lauren has 2,062 employees in the city, placing it only behind Bank of America — with its mammoth customer service center in north High Point — among top local employers, according to the EDC.
Ralph Lauren rose from fourth to second among city employers during the course of the past year. The company added more than 660 jobs during the past year, according to EDC figures. New York-based Ralph Lauren markets products across the world in apparel, home furnishings, accessories and fragrances.
Ralph Lauren has steadily expanded its work force since opening its initial operation here 22 years ago.
“They are a very important employer in this community,” said Ikel Williams, manager of the High Point office of the N.C. Division of Employment Security. “They have been solid with expansions and job creation. They are one of our biggest contributors.”
