Thomasville police on Saturday were continuing an investigation of a hit-and-run fatality that occurred Friday night.
Police responded to the area of 206 National Highway at 5:51 p.m. Friday in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Gussie Pearson, 50, was found lying unresponsive on National Highway.
Police say the scene indicated that Pearson was hit by a motor vehicle traveling south on National Highway while he was crossing the roadway. The vehicle did not stop at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, Ronald W. Warren, 21, later returned to the scene and admitted responsibility for hitting Pearson. Pearson died at Thomasville Medical Center due to the injuries he sustained from the collision.
Officers are still investigating the incident and will consult the Davidson County District Attorney for further assistance, police said Saturday night. No other information was available late Saturday regarding possible charges related to the accident.
