DCCC to host small business summit

Small Business Month sometimes gets overshadowed by Mother’s Day and Memorial Day, but Davidson County Community College hasn’t forgotten.
The Small Business Center is helping to celebrate Small Business Month by hosting “Small Business Summit: Growth and Prosperity” 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Conference Center on the Davidson Campus.
Billed as a regional celebration of business development, the all-day program invites small business owners and leaders from across the region to share their insights for growing business opportunities. The event also features developers and marketing experts.
The summit will host a networking breakfast; technology, marketing research and innovation sessions; and a lunch. At lunch, there will be the keynote discussion on partnerships with speakers Lexington Mayor Newell Clark, Doug Croft, president of the Thomasville Chamber of Commerce, and Terry Bralley, president of the Davie County Economic Development Commission.
“This summit will allow small business owners and community leaders to come together to hear strategies and methods for expanding business,” said Martha Larson, director of the Small Business Center. “Prospecting is a key part of business development. The resources and marketing techniques demonstrated will enhance leads and increase quality connections on regional, state, national and global levels.”
Larson said DCCC looks forward to offering an event where not only new technologies and business development methods are discussed, but local, state and federal small business support organizations will be present.
“It is my hope that attendees learn about the vast support system that is available to assist in individual business and community development,” she said.
