Hit and run appears intentional
A High Point man has been arrested after police say he crashed a car into a man with whom he was arguing.
Jesse Jermaine Barr, 36, of 2103 Wesley Drive, turned himself in at the magistrate’s office Thursday night and was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Police say they received multiple phone calls from witnesses claiming Barr had hit someone and drove from the scene.
According High Point police, Barr was arguing with 37-year-old Sean Christopher Davis in the parking lot of the S. Main Street Raceway. According to reports, he then got into his car, rammed Davis with his car and drove from the gas station. Officers said after reviewing a security tape, they determined Barr intentionally ran into Davis. The tape has no audio, so officers do not know why the men were arguing.
Davis was transported to High Point Regional Hospital, where he was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit.
Barr was held in the High Point City Jail Friday afternoon under a secured $350,000 bond.
