Body found during house fire
Randolph County Sheriff’s office and fire marshals are trying to figure out what caused a fire that killed a man Thursday night.
Deputies, the Guil-Rand Fire Department, Tabernacle Fire Department, Westside Fire Department, EMS and the fire marshal’s department responded to a 5614 Parinna Dr. in Trinity after receiving calls that the vacant house was one fire.
While putting out the fire, it was discovered that a body of a man was inside the home.
An investigation showed that the home was not rented and that the man may have been sleeping in the home for the past few nights. Investigators have a preliminary identification of the victim but his name is not being released until they receive an official identification and next of kin has been notified.
His body was sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Raleigh.
The fire investigation is still ongoing.
