Charges filed in fatal wreck that killed High Point man
Police announced Thursday that charges have been filed in connection with a fatal wreck in Greensboro that killed a High Point man last month.
Ashleigh Lynn Mellon, 32, of Atlanta, was charged with felony death by vehicle, two counts of felony serious injury by vehicle, driving while impaired and careless and reckless driving, according to the Greensboro Police Department.
Mellon on Dec. 24 was operating a 2005 Toyota Solara northbound on Fleming Road and crossed the center line as she approached Clarkson Road, colliding head-on with a 1998 Lexus GS300 operated by Ronald John Beardslee, police said.
Beardslee, 29, of High Point, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in his vehicle, Lauren Marie Martin, 29, and their son, Mason, 3, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Mellon was also charged with hit and run for property damage to a guard rail that occurred just prior to the crash, police said.
