Thomasville woman dies in wreck
A 78-year-old woman from Thomasville died Friday morning when she lost control of her car while traveling on Holly Grove Road east of Lexington.
Frances Rose died in the single-car accident about 9 a.m. She was traveling west on Holly Grove near Lohr Road when she ran off the right side of the roadway, according to the State Highway Patrol.
Rose, driving a 2008 Kia sedan, overcorrected and ran off the rain-slick roadway. The car overturned, and the roof of the vehicle struck a tree.
Rose was declared dead at the scene, the Highway Patrol says. She was wearing a seat belt.
