Murder suspect nabbed after two-county chase
A suspect wanted for attempted murder in a case from upstate South Carolina is in custody at the Guilford County Jail in High Point after wrecking his vehicle following a high-speed, two-county chase this past weekend.
Ronnie Lavar Sanders, 32, of Greensboro, is being held without bond after he was arrested Saturday during a chase that involved deputies from Guilford and Davidson counties and the State Highway Patrol. The chase, which started on southbound Interstate 85 in Guilford County, ended when the suspect crashed his car on N.C. 8 in Davidson County between Feezor and Gray roads, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
“During the chase, the suspect blacked out all headlights while traveling down N.C. Highway 8,” the Sheriff’s Office reports.
Sanders was wanted in Greenville, S.C., on a charge of attempted murder. Sanders now faces additional charges stemming from the chase, including speeding to elude arrest, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and several other traffic violations, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
No one was injured in the chase, the Sheriff’s Office reports.
