A Thomasville teen was named second runner-up in a state pageant on Friday.
Kylee Russell, Miss Thomasville’s Outstanding Teen, took home the honor from the Miss North Carolina Outstanding Teen pageant at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.
This year’s winner was Emili McPhail, Miss Fayetteville’s Outstanding Teen. First runner up was Miss Queen City’s Outstanding Teen Kaelyn Embler.
Russell was among the 66 young women competing for the titles of Miss North Carolina 2013 and Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen. The Miss North Carolina pageant was to be held Saturday night.
During preliminary competition last week, Russell, a rising junior at First Assembly Christian School, tied for the Outstanding Teen Lifestyle and Fitness Award and won the Talent Award for her lyrical dance to “Home on the Range.”
