Guilford Technical Community College will host an Advanced Manufacturing and Technical Job Fair 1 to 3 p.m. Friday on its east Greensboro Campus.

The job fair will showcase employers hiring applicants who are skilled in the industrial, construction, engineering and technology fields. The event, in the GTCC Technical Education Center at 3505 E. Wendover Ave., is free and open to the public.
The purpose of the job fair is to help local employers meet hiring needs for skilled workers and highlight the college’s technical programs. Department chairmen will be available to talk with prospective students about educational and career opportunities within technical fields.
“According to the Department of Labor Statistics, more than 70 percent of applicants are hiring through networking, and job fairs are the perfect start to building a network,” said Dan Grigg, organizer of the job fair and a career adviser at GTCC.
Approximately 30 employers from the various fields will participate in the job fair, according to organizers. The fields include: • Electronics and electrical, mechanical and electronics engineering technology
• Civil engineering
• Advanced manufacturing and maintenance mechanics
• Automation/robotics and CNC machining
• Manufacturing and architectural technology
• Construction management and carpentry
• Surveying/geomatics
• Welding
• Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
