Entertainment calendar, High Points This Week (May 30-June 5, 2013)
ALEX STONE and friends perform stand-up comedy and improv at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival, 807 W. Ward Ave. Stone, a Winston-Salem native, is a two-time finalist for North Carolina’s Ultimate Comic Challenge, and he has performed throughout the East Coast. He is a member of the Nekkid Feet comedy group. The performance is part of the Shakespeare Festival’s Final Friday series of entertainment events. Admission is for age 18 and older. Beer, wine and refreshments will be available to purchase. $10 at the door
NORTHWESTERN RANDOLPH County Arts Council sponsors exhibits Sunday through July 1 in Archdale. Works by Helen Mendenhall and her students will be on exhibit at Ed Price and Associates, 118 Trindale Road. Works by Cara Bevan will be on exhibit at Sechrest Funeral Service, 120 Trindale Road. Reception for both exhibits will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday.
A RECEPTION for local artists group Piedmont Artists United will be held 6-7 tonight at High Point Neal F. Austin Public Library, 901 N. Main St. The artists’ works are on display in the lobby. Free, open to the public, 883-8512
“CORK & ALE” will be held 5:30-7:30 tonight at J.H. Adams Inn and Hampton’s Restaurant, 1108 N. Main St. Events include wine and beer tastings, a silent auction, music by the Jason Clay Band and an art demonstration. Proceeds support the YWCA’s Women’s Resource Center. $20 in advance, $25 the day of the event
