International Festival to celebrate cultural diversity
Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church will host its ninth annual International Festival on Sunday, from 3:30 to 7 p.m., at the church, which is located at 4145 Johnson St.
This year’s theme is “Many Voices, One Spirit.”
Performers at this year’s festival will include:
•The Immaculate Heart of Mary/Bishop McGuinness High School youth band and chorus.
•The Immaculate Heart of Mary Singers.
•Doodream Korean Musicians and Dancers.
•Greensboro Chinese Association Dancers.
•Filipino American Association Dance Troupe.
•Congolese dancer Donna Cavanaugh.
•Isabella Mexican Dance Troupe.
•Damali Bacchus, with Indian Bollywood Dance.
•Ballet Azteca Mexican Dance Troupe.
•Dormition of the Theotokos Greek Dance Troupe.
There will also be entertainment and games for children, including a bounce house, a dunk tank, ring toss, cornhole, fish pond, hula hoops and face-painting.
The festival is organized by the church’s interdenominational International Club, which was established as an instrument of peace in the world, with the specific purpose of celebrating the diverse cultures in the greater High Point community.
There is no admission charge, but guests are asked to bring a family-sized dish to share. Foods that reflect your national heritage are especially welcome.
