Jamestown family chosen again for national ad campaign

The Bradfords are at it again.
The Jamestown family — Ben, Jenny and their four children — which starred in a national advertising campaign last year for Rack Room Shoes, is being featured again this year, after being chosen through the footwear retailer’s Models Wanted contest.
“It was so much fun the first time, but this time it was even more fun,” Jenny says. “It just felt more laid-back and relaxed, because we kind of knew what to expect. We had a blast.”
For the past decade, Rack Room Shoes has featured customers — rather than professional models — in all of its seasonal advertisements, selecting them through its popular Models Wanted promotion. That’s how the Bradfords were chosen for last year’s campaign.
This year, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the program, the Charlotte-based company invited families from the last 10 years to enter for a chance to return as models. The Bradfords were among the top-voted families on the company’s Facebook page, securing their spot as subjects for a new ad campaign.
“You can imagine our excitement when we heard we had the chance to do it all over again,” Jenny says. “It was neat to reunite and catch up with the friends we made on set last year.”
The couple and their four children — 13-year-old Brooke, 11-year-old Alyssa, 7-year-old Braden and 2-year-old Avery — spent a day in Charlotte, shooting hundreds of photos for the new campaign. They received red-carpet treatment that included professional hair and makeup, as well as chauffeur services.
Photos from the shoot are on display now in Rack Room stores and on the company website, and they’ll likely be used in print advertisements, too, according to Jenny.
Modeling is becoming old hat for the Bradford children. In addition to the two Rack Room campaigns, Brooke and Alyssa have done other modeling jobs.
“They really love it, and it comes natural for them,” Jenny says. “But I think Braden and Avery would be great, as well. I can tell they’re in their element when they’re modeling.”
As winners of the 10th-anniversary Models Wanted contest, the Bradfords also received $5,000 from Rack Room Shoes to donate to the charity of their choice — in their case, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Western North Carolina.
“We sat down as a family and discussed different charities,” Jenny explains. “We wanted to pick one that involved children, to make it more real for our kids. We love children, so we wanted to choose a charity that would change a child’s life, and we think Make-A-Wish is just a fantastic organization.”
