1,000,000 MILES: High Point carrier gets top honors
Dennis Smith, a letter carrier and resident in High Point, recently joined the ranks of the prestigious Million Mile Club, the highest honor given to professional drivers in the workplace.
Smith, a 32-year United States Postal Service veteran who delivers mail in northern High Point, was recognized for his ability to drive regularly for the agency for at least 30 years — which translates to at least one million miles — without incurring a preventable motor vehicle accident. The award is given by the National Safety Council.
“The Postal Service is proud of Mr. Smith’s accomplishments and our community should likewise be proud of the safety record he brings,” said Sylvia Bullins, acting postmaster.
