Rickey Bodenheimer
THOMASVILLE — Rickey Charles Bodenheimer, 65, passed away Saturday January 12, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Mr. Bodenheimer was born July 6, 1947, in Davidson County, the son of the late Clinton Charles and Lucille Hughes Bodenheimer. He worked at one time for Asplund Tree Service and J.D. Mills Tree Service. He was of the Baptist faith.
Rickey is survived by his loving sister, Peggy Gordon and husband Larry of Thomasville; niece, Darla Gallimore and husband Todd of Lexington; nephews, Donald Gordan and wife Sharon of Denton, Dwayne Gordan and companion Mandy Woods of Thomasville; many dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Thomasville Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend John Hill officiating.

Nancy McClure Bowie
HIGH POINT — Nancy McClure Bowie (“Nana”) passed away on January 15, 2013, after a short illness at High Point Hospice Home. She was born on August 20, 1946, in Lansing, Michigan. Her parents, Charles and Loretta McClure, preceded her in death. Surviving of the home is her husband of 45 years, Ernest H. Bowie, Jr. Children Ernest H. Bowie III (Beau) and wife Kim of Jamestown; daughter Christine B. Morrison and husband Michael of Thomasville; grandchildren Ernest H. Bowie IV (Boyd), Hannah Morrison, Charles Brayden Bowie (Bray), and Michael Craige Morrison III; sisters, Janet Lambert of Florence, S.C., Raenell Brooks Of Darlington, S.C., and Charlene Dunlap-Sloan of Columbia, S.C.; sister-in-laws Ann B. Love of Taylorsville, S.C., and Gay Reames of Charlotte, N.C.; plus many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday January 18 at 11 a.m. to celebrate her life at Oakdale United Methodist Church, Jamestown, NC. Margaret Robbins Gladden
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Margaret Robbins Gladden, 65, daughter of the late Talton Robbins and Ola Mae Bradley Robbins was born on September 11, 1947, in High Point, NC. On Monday January 14, 2013, Margaret peacefully made the transition to everlasting life. The loved ones she rejoins who preceded her in death are her brother Talton Robbins.
“Sis” as she was affectionately called, was a graduate of William Penn High School Class of 1965. She was employed with Genesis Family Healthcare Inc. and Caring Hands Home Health Inc.
Sis was a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt and cousin. She was loved by her countless friends, her fellow co-workers, clients and especially her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James Jimmy Gladden of Asheboro NC; one stepdaughter, Anntranette Gladden of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters, Barbara Robbins Harrington of Concord, NC, Joanne Cordell of Robbins, NC; one brother, Richard C. Robbins of High Point, NC; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Payne Robbins of Springfield, Massachusetts; two aunts, Eloise Robbins Nesbitt of High Point, NC, and Mae Etta Robbins of Louisville, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, special cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 903 E. Kearns Ave., High Point NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 12:30 p.m. and other times at the home, 1412 Parkside Dr. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown, NC.

Darrell Anderson Holden
HIGH POINT — Darrell Anderson Holden, 72, passed away unexpectedly, January 15, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Darrell was born in High Point, November 17, 1940, the 11th child of Alfred and Dollie Mae Hudspeth Holden. He was raised in the Highland Mill community. Darrell served two tours of duty in the U.S. Navy, where he met and married Annie Morrison in Scotland, UK. He held several U.S. patents and was an avid chess and checker player. He was preceded in death by sisters, Flossie Milan and Florence Henderson; brothers, Homer, Edward, Lloyd, Herbert, Troy, Richard, Ernest, Curtis, Loyle, Michael and David Holden. Darrell never met a stranger and had a smile for everyone. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Surviving are three daughters, Agnes “Lynn” Davila, Joan Crays and Karen Atwood and husband Wayne; a son, Gerald Coleman and his wife Kanika; grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon, Gabriella, Jacob, Jonathan; former spouse, Annie Morrison; brothers, Carroll Holden, Larry Holden and wife Dixie, Doyle Holden and wife Beth and Ralph Henderson and wife Marilee; his best friend, Steven Keranen; and numerous nieces and nephews here and in Scotland.
Graveside service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery by Bishop Richard Yeoman. Gordon Lindley
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Flavius Gordon Lindley, 85, died Wednesday at Piedmont Crossing Retirement Community. Born May 9, 1927, he was the son of the late Flavius Bingham Lindley and Sally Edwards Lindley. His wife of 58 years, Lucy Lanier Lindley, preceded him in death by one week. One sister, Leatrice Lindley Ford, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Lindley was a lifelong resident of High Point until moving to Piedmont Crossing two years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and graduated from High Point College and Wake Forest University. He retired in 1993 from Word Power Inc., having served as accounting and financial officer. Mr. Lindley was a member of Montlieu Avenue United Methodist Church.
He is survived by six nieces, Betty Roberts, Martha Burrow, Linda Rhodes, Carolyn Walker, Susan Ice and Rita Wilson as well as several special cousins. Funeral service for Mr. Lindley will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Rev. Roland Cavanaugh officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. The entombment will be at Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum in Greensboro.

Pearl Elizabeth Linthicum Mendenhall 
WAKE FOREST — Pearl Elizabeth Linthicum Mendenhall was born on November 5, 1922, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. At age five she was adopted by her father’s sister Elizabeth Gault Linthicum, and moved to Baltimore, MD, where she lived until her marriage to Robert Reid Mendenhall Jr. and moved to High Point, NC. Her education in Maryland included Forest Park High School, Maryland Institute of Art, Peabody Conservatory of Music, Elecution and dancing school, Modeling, and she was a fashion model and secretary before her marriage. She was a devoted mother to her beloved children and was a secretary for her husband when they started their business in 1953. She was a secretary at High Point Regional Hospital for 16 years. She was a member of Eutaw Place Baptist Church, Springfield Friends Meeting, and for the last 22 years attended Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert Reid Mendenhall III.
Survivors include her beloved daughter, Bonny Lynne Mendenhall Calloway; her beloved granddaughters, Miles Christina Calloway, Lauren Trapp, Michelle Reid; her beloved brother, Alva Patterson Linthicum, Jr. and wife Joyce Daugherty; nieces, nephews and many friends.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Springfield Friends Meeting in High Point, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Gloria Ilderton Rochelle
HIGH POINT — Born January 2, 1924, in Charleston, South Carolina. Died January 16, 2013 at age 89 in her beloved home.
A daughter to the late Marie Carey Ilderton and Horace Greely Ilderton, a sister to the late H. G. Ilderton and mother to two deceased infant sons.
She was married for 63 years to John (Jack) Hardin Rochelle in 1947 who preceded her in death.
She was an active member in many civic and cultural affairs in High Point. She was a longtime member of the Hospital Guild, a Blue Lady volunteer and board member of Pennybyrn at Maryfield. A member of the Junior League of High Point, Board member of the Carousel Theatre, a member of the High Point Debutante Club, the High Point Country Club and the String and Splinter Club. She was a superior bridge player and will miss all her bridge friends and her Century Study Club friends. Her most important volunteerism was to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Melbourne Beach Catholic Church.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Her surviving daughters are, Ashley R. Culler and husband Braxton, Julie Rochelle- Stephens, Rose Marie Boone and husband Lee. Her grandchildren, who loved their “Dodie” are Kimberly C. Combs, R. Braxton Culler IV (Brack) and wife Caroline, John Rochelle Culler (Josh). Spencer Boone, Jackson Boone, Caroline Boone, all of High Point. Maya Rochelle- Stephens, Mariah Rochelle-Stephens, Taylor Gilfillan and husband Mark of Portland, Oregon. Seven great grandchildren, Ashley Anne Combs, Culler Combs, Roy Braxton Culler V (Quinn), Gloria E. Culler, Libby R. Culler, Alexander and Nathan Gilfillan and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She loved them all dearly.
Her most endearing and faithful family members are her brothers, Carey Ilderton Sr. and wife Eleanor; Clarence Ilderton Jr. and wife Wanda.
She was the true matriarch and lady of a loving family. She always reminded us “It is not about the ‘dying’ it is about the ‘living.’ ”
Thank you to her devoted caregivers, Barbara Green, Hazel Carl, Veronica Capel, Shonda Johnson and Lamont Brailsford.
Services will be Saturday, January 19 at 10:00 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Johnson Street. Family will receive friends after the service in the vestibule.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the interment at Oakwood Memorial Park on Montlieu Avenue.

Phillip M. Saunders 
HIGH POINT — Phillip Melton Saunders, 68, died after a long illness with Parkinson’s on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the Triad Care and Rehabilitation Center in High Point.
He was born in Newport News, Virginia, to Price and Ora Melton Saunders. He attended UNC at Chapel Hill. Phillip served in the U.S. Navy as a Communication Specialist. He was a Computer Specialist with Hewlett-Packard, R.J. Reynolds, and Pepsi. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Paul Saunders, and nephew, Sterling Saunders.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Baldwin Saunders, of the home; daughters, Laura Saunders (Norbert Schuehler) of Fitchburg, Mass., and Sylvia Reader of Winston-Salem; brothers, Nolan (Ann) Saunders of Garner and Dwight (Beverly) Saunders of Clinton; aunt, Jo Anne (Max) King of Seagrove; nieces and nephews, Dwayne Saunders, Angela (Ronnie) Parrish, Brian (Rachel) Stogner, David Bostic, Lynn (Jeff) Tippette and Stacy Pridgen.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eric Peacock and Rev. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Biscoe Cemetery.
